^^^ But the Honda Pilot and Ford Explorer are selling at higher prices than the Mazda CX-5. Both are also gas guzzlers.

June 12th, 2017 02:15 AM #153Hi guys,
Just bought a 2011 cx9 a month ago and unfortunately i had a transfer case issue. I fist smell like a gas fumes or kind of a burning oil. Did some reserarch online and i saw a crack in my transfer case nabungi mga gears basag bering natuyuan ng fluid. According to Mazda alabang 104k daw for the transfer case. Insted i have it rebuild and i hope ok sya. Still at the machine shop.
Does any one here had a transfer case issue?

Wow looks like a big issue. Hope you don't spend too much money.
I am looking to buy used CX9 kasi needs bigger car for the baby.
MArami bang sira/sakit ang CX9 ? I like Mazda pero not sure about CX9 performance, gas consumtption, etc. Currently have Mazda 3 2009 which we love.

I have a 5-year old CX9, still drives like new, have not encountered any issue since driving it out of the Greenhills casa when I bought it in 2012. 5yrs and I have not replaced any part other than usual PMS oil, filter, and battery once. My only gripe is its fuel consumption - 5km/liter on pure city driving. Other than that, it's a great big car and can comfortably seat 8 people.

You might want to consider the Mazda CX-7 also ... CX-9 is quite huge for a daily driver ...

There was this 5-way comparo done in 2011 which influenced my decision. Read the article below.
http://www.motortrend.com/news/three...uv-comparison/
5-years later (now), I'm glad I made the right decision as I did not experience any quality or performance issue with my CX9. See the other thread on Explorer quality issues and you will see a lot of frustrations, especially on fume smells getting inside the cabin which remains unsolved.
You'll just have to live with 5km/liter fuel consumption, which is about the same for all the other big engined gas crossovers/SUVs.

Could also be due to the high demand that the manufacturer prioritized new car deliveries vs. spare...
