Hi guys, I'm new to the pick-up market. so far based on my findings, i have narrowed down my choices to the mitsubishi L-200 and the Mazda B2200. I really can't choose between the two. my concerns are:

    1. availability of parts and ease of maintenance

    2. fuel consumption

    3. interior finishing and comfort that the interior provides

I hope you guys can help me out

    btw, budget is 150-175k.

    Dear Capt Nemo:

    Welcome to our humble thread.

It is my (extremely biased) opinion that the Mazda B2200 is a better pickup than the L200.

Look at the size of the suspension components alone - the Mazda has a far larger underchassis.

It is also larger and roomier inside - try sitting in one - particularly the rear seat.

Spare parts for both are not really a problem - I often use B2200 components for my B2500 - and their CHEAP - compared to those of a new vehicle.

The diesel engine on the B2200 is also better than the one L200 - which is probably the oldest diesel pickup engine around.

    Hope this helps,

    Best Regards,

    Dusky Lim

Thank you for your informative reply, sir. Although it may be biased, atleast it provides me with some insight on the B2200. What is the fuel consumption (FC) of the B2200? So, if you were to pick between the B2200 engine and the L200's 4D56, you'd go for the B2200?

If you aren't completely sure about your mechanic, try having a calibration shop (like DRT ni Gener) do the job.

That way you will be assured that the job will be done correctly - proper timing is vital and the last step in the installation of your injection pump after calibration.

You can also have them adjust the valves while your having the belt replaced.

    thanks ulit ...

*Z50R: nice truck sir! mas okay ang walang tint [well, para hindi mahirapan ang a/c e pwde ka din nka 3M crystalline clear or v-kool clear tint ~ expensive nga lang kc approx nasa P20T]!

glass cleaners will do the trick! buy your favorite brand from ace/rob handyman. also use a microfibre towel [preferabley microtex terry towel ~ orange] para walang himulmol na sumama.

stepboards mas bagay sa lumang b-series sir. pwede mo benta yan sa mga kagrupo dito.

halos same tayo ng color. orig paint po ba yan sir?

    sir nemo,

for your budget, a B2200 [2.2L diesel engine] would be the better choice. lotsa parts available ~ and cheaper too!

some had theirs swapped with an RF turbo engine [sir bborces & dc1]. these trucks can reach 140-160kph without a sweat.

maintenance? it's gonna be the usual 3000km oil change [considering the fact that the truck is more than 10years old], plus others like brake check/clean/adjust or replace, valve clearance adjustment, fuel filter change. all these are basic.

fuel consumption? i'd say prolly at 10-15km/L.

interior? lots of legroom! comfort? well, it's a truck ~ expect that it'll be a little bit bouncy.
