No not really. Yes the higher end fuel has more cleaning additives but your engine will be just fine with regular unleaded.

The Mazda 3 is my first car ever. I've been washing it weekly ever since it came out of the casa. Can you guys share your own car wash method and best practices?

Here's what I do:

Clean the interior with armor all and a microfiber cloth

Cleaning of the plastic matting with wet wipes

Pre-wash with a regular hose

Use a sponge with microfiber cloth and MTX wash & wax and a two-bucket method

Post-wash

Chamois for drying

Another microfiber cloth for those other water spots and drips

Glass cleaner with newspaper

Clean the rims and apply tire black to the tires

All of this takes about an hour and 15 minutes. It might just be faster to go to a car wash, but it's always been fun. Good workout too. =)

But if the premium petrol V-Power is just 40 to 50 cents higher than FuelSave, I'd say go for V-Power.

10% bioethanol in Shell FuelSave is something to consider as well when it comes to potential side effects with the engine.

Doesn't Shell V-Power contain ethanol?

I use Meguiar's supreme shine hi-gloss protectant to enhance the interior trims.

Meguiar's interior detailer is also a good choice if you prefer to keep that matte finish.

Wash methods? 2 bucket system definitely. I use MTX car shampoo with MTX washmitt for a scratch-free wash. Start with spraying the car with water then wash the car from roof, hood, rear to door sides. Dry the car with a fluffy (500gsm) microfiber towels like this one from the Rag Company:

MTX Ultra Flush microfiber towel is good also for drying the M3. I use at least 2 towels.

I don't recommend using a chamois to dry the car. Using it is a sure way to produce those nasty paint swirls and scratches.

Use a detailer to remove water spots and sticky grims from the car's body. Meguiar's ultimate quik detailer is a good option, or CarPro Spotless:

MTX nanosliq quick detailer is an affordable option.

Keep your car's windshield in top condition and water spot free with Glass Science glass scrub cleaner and Rain Clear gel.

Paint protection? I would highly recommend a quality ceramic coating while your M3's paint is still in good condition. You might qualify for a discounted price from Technical Details. If ceramic coating is not within budget, regular waxing is important. I use Mequiar's ultimate quik wax for another hatchback and so far I find it very helpful on keeping the car's paint shiny with some hydrophobic properties that can last for a month. A better option that will last for months is to use Collinite 845 insulator wax:

Aren't fuels with bioethanol supposed to be clearly indicated at the fuel pumps? The only Shell fuel brand that's labeled with bioethanol is FuelSave.
