August 15th, 2010 05:12 AM #1Hi all,
I'm going to Baguio this Tuesday and I will be traveling alone.
Plan to leave Manila at around 7 or 8 PM.
Is there by any chance that you guys know how long will it take me to reach Baguio CBD?
I plan to take NLEX - SCTEX - McArthur - Marcos Highway to Baguio.
Is it safe to travel alone at night along the said route nowadays?
Any other tips for a first timer like me?
Thank you in advance!

how exciting...
pero 1st timer ka... i suggest you leave early morning so you can see the road signs.
how's your car? pag nasiraan ka medyo mahirap humanap ng talyer sa gabi along the stretch of macarthur tarlac to pangasinan.
pero given a properly reliable car, lots of common sense, sharp eyes and skill, pwede tahakin ang manila to baguio ng gabi. the roads are safe at marami ka kasabay na sasakyan sa daan.
night travel will probably take you 3-4 hours no traffic, consistent speed over 100 and few restroom breaks. cruise mode at 80 maybe around 5 hours. BUT THEN, i'm basing my estimate sa experience years ago, like 2005... wala pa SCTEX nun. maybe its faster now.

please take note that Baguio CBD has number coding in effect 7am-7pm- no window time.
after getting off from SCTEX, just take the national highway towards la union that will take you all the way to the intersections of either marcos highway and kennon road- either of which should get you up here swiftly!

The most confusing part for a newbie would be the end of SCTEX going to MacArthur Highway. Other than that it's a straightforward drive, even at night.
Check all your lights.
Laki pala problem ng BYD sa stocks ng mga collision parts (bumpers, lights, etc.). I have 3 friends...
