July 3rd, 2018 10:55 PM #1261Good thing you did not hit the wall when you slid and spun. That was a close save there. In what condition were your tires at the time?
Agree about the safety aspect. Though I sometimes justify the cheaper purchases like the Westlakes with the reason that the car is pretty much only used in city driving. My father is Taiwanese, grew up with Nankang tires, and swears by their quality. Both the Granvia and Santa Fe now use Nankangs. The Carnival gets Bridgestones though. Lucky bloke. [emoji23]

Just purchased 4 new tires for one of our sedan. Got Forceum brand for 2.2k each, Thailand made, if I am not mistaken. Medyo na distract kasi ako kanina
Got it from a tire shop along P. Tuazon in Cubao.
First time to try this brand, let's see how it will perform.

Around 2.5-3mm remaining tread. Still above the 1.6mm threshold. Actually I was able to run with the same set of tires for almost another year until I sold the car.
So it wasn't really worn past useability. It's typical for cheap tires to drastically suffer in terms of grip as they wear out.

July 8th, 2018 02:58 PM #1269^Agree. Unless you require the added traction afforded by AT tires, HT tires will suffice. They are usually cheaper and quieter too.
IMHO upsizing this much will not cause significant effect to fuel consumption. If original tire size is not available, I don't mind upsizing as long as both sides are of the same size.

Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
