That's not just for Australia, that's the All-New 2018 Rio.
The All-New Rio hatchback was first unveiled in Europe (Paris), where B-segment hatchbacks are popular.

In the US, the 5-door hatchback was unveiled together with the 4-door sedan variant.

One of the main things stopping some carmakers from selling diesel variants here specially in the subcompact car segment is pricing. Diesel variants cost a lot more than their gasoline counterparts, not unless they start removing standard features.
In most cases subcompacts have small displacement gasoline engines which are efficient enough.

I guess we'll just have to wait till Kia Philippines announces which Rio models they'll bring in here.

Looks like the Philippine-spec 2017 Rio will only be available with a 1.4-liter gasoline engine, at least for now.
