Makikita mo after your 1st change oil gaganda FC mo. Old days na yung below 80kph ang break in

Well that's interesting! I'll try doing that before 1,000km. I'll full tank the car then ride high on straights for 30 kms then full tank again so I can make manual computations. Right now establish ko muna baselines so I can track the improvements.

I really have no idea the old Rio fc as it has not caught my attention and interest before. Just learned about it during my recent chat with the taxi driver. I'll check the site you recommended.

I advice you not to get discourage on my fc, it's premature and could be an isolated case. For me it's still money's worth and I have no regrets. I love driving the Rio and it really look great! People stare at the car every now and then.
Mine is red and it really look red hot especially when the sun is bright kaya siguro malakas sa gas, hehe.
cyberian, if my experience is any indication, the Old Rio's fc is not so bad. It's a 2010 titanium silver EX variant with 1.4 L. I'm getting average 9kpl on city driving and had made 14kpl on almost all highway driving. However, it will not beat a Vios in that dept. I easily get 11.5kpl when I still had the car. Well, I hope you'll get positive resolution on the fc issue on your car. It might really be too early to tell.

If my hatch had an fc like that it would put a smile on my face every time I drive. Right now it's just a dream and hopefully it will come true. Thanks for the info, gives me hope of an fc improvement.

despite my poor fc at the moment (could be isolated case) I will still recommend this car because it offers a lot for the money. I bought it at P868k (price is higher here in Cagayan de Oro City). The features and accessories is one of the best in it's class. Power is sufficient, ride and comfort is great, fit and finish as well are great, has "concept design" factory rims that beats anything stock out there, surprisingly spacious inside, and easy to drive. Sounds and horn lang ang kailangan palitan.

Try and sit inside and compare it with the others and you will feel the design is more updated, to me at least. Test drive and compare, the ride is great and corners better. Fiesta's handling and power is better though.

For those who are waiting for my FC on my 1st full tank, here are the numbers:

    Full tanked on June 4, 2012 - Petron XCS= 34.60L

    > Trip Computer Display (reset):
    Distance to Empty - 476km
Distance Traveled (set at Odometer TRIP B) - 204.9km
    AVG Fuel Economy - 15.5L/100km (6.45km/L)

    > Manual Computation:
    Full Tank (Liter) - 34.60L
    Distance Traveled (Odometer TRIP B) - 204.9km
    AVG Fuel Consumption (204.9km/34.6L) - That's 5.92km/L folks!

    Note: Road and driving condition-
Full A/T, light footed (ECO always ON), City driving (avoiding long & heavy traffic as much as possible through alternative routes and scheds), Max. speed 70km/hr. on about 30km of highway drive (2 round trips to LTO & no traffic congestion both Savemore & Bulua intersections), passengers: 5 with 3 kids ages 8, 11 & 18 yr olds (less than half of the time) but usually 2 passengers (spouses).

At 5.92km/L city, this is by far higher than both City and Jazz 1.5, corolla 1.6, Optra 1.6, Orlando 1.8, lancer 1.6 and Sentra 1.6 that I had driven. I was expecting this car to consume 7.5-8km/L city on it's least economical run (FC high side) and 8-9km/L on average economy (FC low side) as I was made to believed (Kia SA said it's 8-9km/L city, 10-12 highway) but I was wrong.

Anyway, it's all premature yet as of this time and I am just on my 2nd full tank and I will post the results soon. I am also looking forward to it's 1st PMS as Kia SA promised to look into the cause of the high FC. After this full tank I'll try highway fc tests naman.

I would like to ask fellow owners of hatchback to post your average FC (both city and highway if possible) together with road/traffic conditions so we can all have ideas on it's average FC. Most kasi nabasa ko ang FC of sedan 1.2 & 1.4 at manual pa. Thanks in advance!

    * cyberian:

Sorry to hear about your FC experience on your Kia Rio HB.
I would just like to share my FC experience on my Kia Rio Sedan M/T.

I purchased my car last April 31 and so far from my usage, I'm quite satisfied with the FC.
My City Driving FC is around 10-13 Km/L while my Highway FC is around 18-20 Km/L.
I am also residing in Cagayan de Oro and I primarily use my car in going to the office.
My city driving involves going to Malls and Church.
While my highway driving is going to the office which is located in Villanueva, around 25 Kms from the city.

I'm not quite sure why your FC is very Low but for my experience, I am satisfied by the Efficiency of this car.

By the way, you have mentioned from your previous post that you have changed your car horn from an authorized Kia dealer/store.
May i know which store is this and where it is located?

I do hope you will find the way to make your car more efficient since I believe Kia Rio is a very Fuel Efficient car.

Congrats on your new ride! And thank you for sharing your fc.

Indeed, your figure is possible and I observed it myself just this 2:AM (Zero traffic congestion, traffic lights not functioning) on a brief run to the bus terminal on the outskirt of the city via the highway. INSTant Fuel Economy bar is around 8-10, average speed 65kph. It tempted me to go further to the next town about 20km away but I don't want to distort the city fc results as this is my second full tank evaluation.

It's now currently at 13.8L/100km on a 47.2km odometer run (around 14km of that is highway as stated above) and about 80% (slightly above 3/4 fuel level) on the tank left. I will update my fc report again soon.
