errr... might i ask, why?
if longer life is your aim, i am just not sure that a bigger battery will give you that.
the main determinant of battery life, is its charge status.
batteries last longer if they are left to wait in fully-charged condition.
that is why, some car owners advocate the frequent use of home battery chargers, yung "smart battery charger" daw.
in my non-diesel car, instead of bigger battery, i opted for battery smaller than factory spec, for lighter weight. i did not notice shorter life.Last edited by dr. d; March 31st, 2018 at 10:22 AM.

I've also read from some posts here that a bigger battery would overwork your alternator if it wasn't designed for a big battery.

Could also be due to the high demand that the manufacturer prioritized new car deliveries vs. spare...
