Hehe, ayoko na ng malaking sasakyan. I was just accompanying my friend who wanted to see the Grand Starex for herself. I was at the casa to pass some papers regarding my insurance claim.
I really wanted to have a smaller vehicle as my next ride, maybe a Carens, but after passing through Marcos Highway and the flooded portions of Urdaneta after typhoon Cosme, I think I'd prefer a Kia Sportage instead.

Guys..salamat sa mga info na binigay nyo.
I'll be checking out the 10 seater GS m/t at Pitstop, my wife is not at all impressed with the beige interior. As for me if the fuel consumption is at 7 to 8 kpl, then this is good enough considering the size of this van. Is there a Pitstop somewhere down south Metro?

Bro., what's with Marcos highway that made you change your preference from a Carens to a Sportage? I was guessing that it is the steep grade, but it could be something else that I am missing. We are going up to Baguio in a few days, so it could be a good information.
Yup, I am looking too at the Carens, Sportage or Tucson as possible replacement for our car late 2009/ early-mid 2010. However, right now, I don't have any 'realistic' candidate for the Gen3......

My 2002 Carnival was able to make it through Marcos Highway's mudslides and fallen branches. When we got to Urdaneta, I had to bring her through bumper deep floods along MacArthur Highway going to Tarlac.
It got me to thinking that the Carens has an even lower ground clearance than my Sedona, and I doubt the Carens would have been able to make it through that flooded area without stalling. I'm still amazed that the Carnival didn't stall!
That's why I realized the need for a more rugged (but smaller) vehicle for those times when natural calamity strikes yet I have no choice but to venture outdoors. Alas, for me, venturing outdoors in bad driving conditions is not a remote possibility because my wife is an MD. I've been out driving in storms, in the middle of the night, across remote stretches of highway, all for the sake of her patients.

May 23rd, 2008 06:27 PM #1170Good afternoon. Finally i've convinced my wife to buy a Grand Starex. Now, we are of to haunting a good unit.
Can anybody please point me in the right direction? I would like the following configurations:
1. 12 seater configuration
2. All leather seats
3. captain seats also
4. underview mirror and spoiler
5. automatic transmission
6. 3 or 5 years warranty is ok
7. premium video and audio system
8. good aftersales
I hear units like HVX or CVX, HARI vs PITSTOP vs STANDOUT. Medyo information overload so i hope somebody could enlighten me.
You can also pm your offers, buying the unit probably this coming week
