A civic 2.0 S (M/T) can hit over 200++ kph. I was following one at the Skyway and he was still ahead of me at 200 kph. I only overtook him when I hit 210 kph.

I have a friend that is a member of both Honda Club and Team FD.
He claimed that he hit 215kph and pictured it.
He was at SCTEX. He was driving a 2006 Honda Civic M/T
with K&N drop in filter upgrade.

The A/T variant will have a higher top speed than the M/T version (applies to both 1.8 and 2.0) because the former has a higher gear ratio.

In theory, that is correct. But in practice, the A/T could never maximize the gear ratio. There is a fluid coupling between the engine and the power train and this absorbs a lot of the engine's power if there is too much resistance in the power train (wind velocity, load factor, etc.).

Not this baby.
Most, if not all modern A/Ts have a torque converter lockup clutch. It means that as both sides of the torque converter (input vs output) approaches the same speed, the clutch locks them up to mitigate torque converter losses and should improve fuel efficiency.
The Honda 5-speed A/T, among others, have this feature.
Of course, top speed is different from acceleration. A M/T would be in an advantage during acceleration.

I checked out the specs.
This is for the M/T: Gear Ratios: 1st: 3.143, 2nd: 1.870, 3rd: 1.235, 4th: 0.949, 5th: 0.727, Reverse: 3.308, Final Drive: 4.29
This is for the A/T: Gear Ratios: 1st: 2.666, 2nd: 1.534, 3rd: 1.022, 4th: 0.721, 5th: 0.525, Reverse: 1.957, Final Drive: 4.44
You are right. And it's not only on in the top gears. It is in all the gears, in fact. But check out the Final Drive. The M/T has a higher final gear ratio but it's just a small difference compared to the differences in gears.
Now, I wonder why it's that way. They're supposed to be getting the same power from the same engine.

sa teamFD:
1.8S M/T: 210 KPH
1.8S A/T: 214 KPH
2.0S M/T: 225 KPH
2.0S-L A/T: 225 KPH
ALL STOCK ang engine nila. Pero yung kay mamar 1.8S M/T TURBO naka 215 KPH pero hindi pa sagad yun..
The 12-month warranty on the factory battery ended a few days ago. SOH is still good at over 90%,...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
