well, if your going to ask me... parang not part of the b series yung b20a.
old school na yung makina na ito and from what i remember.... hindi pa vtec (not sure though), late 80's.
the parts are not compatible with b16's and b18's...
sa HP, same lang sa b16a around 160 HP ata pero sa FC ill have no idea lang.
this is all i know about the engine.

August 6th, 2008 03:08 PM #3B20A is a block from the gen1 crv. Some tuners use this block and match it with a b16b or b16a head. This bumps the displacement from 1.6 to around 2.0 if im not mistaken. Giving you a little more torque.

August 6th, 2008 03:52 PM #6Based sa mga kaibigan ko ok lang naman daw fuel consumption ng b20 block/b16head engine. Just dont let the vtec kick in always hehehehe. Its got more torque than a stock b16 sa lower rpm

This question dates back to the introduction of the SiR here about a decade ago and it does make you wonder if the higher numbered engine (20A) actually produces more power than the 16A or B for that matter.
My first view of a B20a was from an early '90s Prelude.
The B20A powerplant produces a decent 119hp while the B16A punches a minimal of 160hp * 7000rpm
Oddly enough, the B20a is not entirely accepted to belong to the B series engines. Why? Compatibility.
The B20 series' parts are mostly not compatible with the rest of the B series like the B16a/b.

The B20B and B20Z were the engines used in the first-generation CR-Vs. B20Bs were generally panned for their low output given their size, so around 1998 Honda installed the higher-output B20Zs.
B-series parts are largely interchangeable. B20B/Z engine blocks nowadays are paired with B16A/B heads. Even back in 2003, these so-called "Frankenstein" or "B20VTEC" motors were many a tuner's project.

do i understand that B20A engine is an old type of engine and b16a is far more superior than the former when it comes to HP
Mahilig kasi sa profit ang ford. Strategy yan na huwag gawing matibay ang mga parts para maraming...
