When i was driving my way home, my car bogged down and not starting (had a post here regarding 97 galant s/s not starting). Unfortunately, the last few meters of my run stopped right in front of Rapide Nat'l Highway, San Pedro, Laguna. I've checked my ride (to the best of my ample knowledge) but to no luck - still not starting at all. There's no mechanic to call for. At first I was hesitant if I'm gonna approach the Rapide mechanics; I read a lot of stories about them and it really s**cks! Oh well, out of desperation I approached one of them and helped me. As I stood beside him, I became an observant. I just noticed parang hindi alam ang gagawin nya kasi hindi nya alam kung ano unang titingnan.. oh my.. mekaniko pa naman sya! And then there were 3 guys approached my car to check also. So after a while of pondering, wondering and deliberation with fellow mechanics, they had their decision. Their 'frontman' mechanic said that there "might" be wrong with the timing so they have to check it first (with this, I knew it's a piece of crap na..) then there's this guy who offered me a timing package which costs P7,840. WTF!!! Ayos ah!!! Then this 'frontman' again said, worse cases i-top overhaul na. Another WTF!!! But I remained my temper cool, pretending to be an "idiot." Pinahila ko nalang tsikot ko at iniuwi sa house. The next day, pinatingnan ko ulit pero sa ibang mechanic and found out there's a loose connection lang malapit sa distributor. Then my car started gracefully again! So anong timing package at overhaul ang sinasabi ng Rapide??? Tsk, Tsk, Tsk.. Gusto lang nila perahan ang mga tao at magpatuloy na manloko..

I remember my High School Classmate had a Isuzu Hi-Lander which needs the joints and other underchassis repair of their ride to be fixed and it cost them an estimate of over P45,000 at Rapide Petron Filinvest Alabang. Then he went to their nearby Mechanic at Muntinlupa which cost them ONLY over P8,000...
