That's why I'm reserving my judgement. Maybe the unit is a display unit like the Chevrolet Corvette and Lamborghini cop cars. These units are rolling billboards of the police and they use them in community education (e.g. against drugs, gangs, etc.). They are not day-in-day-out patrol cars.
Of course, should the need arise, said vehicles must be up to the job.

Most of the upgrades I believe were either donated or discounted, in return A-toy's website/logo are on the bumpers. The Altis by the way is not brand new, I think its a 2004 model.
This modified Altis of SJPD is meant to be a Quick Response Unit and is not a chase car(a Nitrous oxide kit will be added to complete the mods) and at the same time its also a model car(image car/muse) for the SJPD, this also explains the showcar style mods... and why they park it right in front of the San Juan Police Station.
For normal Patrols and any other heavy duty work, the SJPD has the tougher body on frame Hilux and Innovas.

what does the san juan pd need a pr campaign for anyway?
on a similar note, one time eh may nakita naman akong mga pulis na naka-motorized scooter roaming around greenhills. a sort of poor man's segway. later on i saw a booth dun sa harap ng theater mall that was selling them. endorsers na pala ang trabaho ng pulis natin ngayon.

dyan sila magaling....puro SHOW.
mas marami pa akong naririnig na masamang balita sa kapulisan natin kesa sa maganda. di ba nga, ang hirap na magtiwala sa mga pulis ngayon.

making up for the bad image of the Police caused by cops from other cities perhaps?
A lot of people here in San Juan like these new Black and white Police vehilces(when it was new a lot of people were taking photos with their camera phones), other than that we have one of the lowest crime rates, and Police here have a better image than in other parts of Merto Manila. You will also encounter a lot of these Police vehicles roaming the streets of San Juan on a regular basis.
Other than this maybe because San Juan is small, this could also be the reason why they try out new stuff here like the Smartbike Electric scooter which they say will also be used by other Police departments.Last edited by AG4; December 29th, 2006 at 01:47 AM.
