The one issue I've heard about is cooling. Apparently, since the 2.8 is a lot more powerful than the original 2.5 Toyota engine, the cooling system needs to be bolstered... probably adding an extra auxiliary fan is necessary if you drive in traffic a lot.

But this is only from one owner... have yet to hear of any other complaints.

Yeah I also heared about that when I spoke to a driver at Ilocos. One driver was telling a story that a Traveller down in Zamboanga overheated because the driver didn't notice that the cooling fan failed (maybe he's not monitoring his temp guage). So the common general solution by the owners who heared that story was making a dedicated electrical line for that specific fan to prevent it from failing.

But I think it was an isolated case. 9 out of 10 owners that I spoke to doesn't even know that type of problem. Their units are running fine 2 and 3 years running at 100k and some are already at 190k mileage.

Good to know! Still, my advice would be to not run at high loads for long periods of time, and to occassionally check the condition of the fans. Cooling is always a problem with mid-engined vans with bigger motors.

Yes owners of that model really admit that the poor quality of the vehicle as a whole. However, the new model (2013) and up has improved. I also noticed that the paint finish quality of the 2016 series has improved.
