April 27th, 2016 04:26 PM #3552after 800+ kms on the 2.2 titanium premium, here's what i have to share so far...
engine grunt is noticeable at low gears, but then the cabin goes eerily quiet after getting up to speed. turbo lag is evident during acceleration, but this is expected. the Eve would probably have a hard time competing with other PPV SUVs when it comes to acceleration due to its heavier weight, but top speed is decent. the 2.2 engine is certainly not lacking in power, but it's not over the top either. "decent" is how i would characterize it.
ride quality is good. bumps and potholes are a bit pronounced, but given that this has 20" rims, i find the ride is still better than expected.
i love the safety features of this variant. what surprised me most was how nice it is to have the FCM when you need it. it was activated once while i was driving in a provincial road on a short uphill climb when a jeep decided to unload at the top of the hill in the middle of the road. the system notified me even before i noticed the jeep and did pre-charge the brakes and i managed to avoid colliding with it. it certainly helps especially with big and heavy SUV like ours. BLIS and cross-traffic alert is also very helpful, although those proximity sensors do go off every now and then especially when in traffic and motorcycles are whizzing all around you. the sensitivity can be adjusted but i decided to keep them at normal settings for now. of course, having 7 airbags is a big plus for safety-conscious drivers like me.
i have used the active park assist twice and it's been spot-on on both occasions. this really helps for parallel parking challenged drivers like me, but it should not be an excuse not to learn how to do parallel parking manually.
i also tested both normal and adaptive cruise control on the expressways, but only for a couple of minutes as i find that they make driving dull and boring in the long run. they can be used from time to time if only to rest your feet, but i certainly won't use them as often and as much.
the one feature that i'm really not keen on using is lane assist. i haven't tried it and does not see any use for it.
the doors are a bit heavy as usual for this kind of vehicle, but i don't like that they don't open linearly. it makes them prone to bumping other objects beside it when opening. i'm not sure if this also the case with other brands of PPV SUVs. having a powered tailgate is nice though.
sync 2 is functioning well. i have a limited time testing voice command and it works nicely. i heard sync 3 is coming soon in other markets and there is a rumor that google maps will be integrated for navigation, so maybe a software upgrade in the future will finally give us an integrated navigation system. sound quality is decent as well.
it does take time to get used to all the controls and buttons, but a bit of tinkering plus reading the manual eventually gets you familiarized with everything.
that's it from me for now, i will post other observations later as they become evident. hope this helps.

April 27th, 2016 06:23 PM #3554it says 8.7km/l on the dash. i haven't touched that since i got the unit. haven't done manual calculations yet.
the audio quality is good enough for stock speakers. if you're not an audiophile, they are already okay.
i usually set at 1/4 the volume level when listening to radio, slightly above that when using phone as music source, so i guess decibel levels are more than adequate.

April 27th, 2016 06:53 PM #3556thank you!
based on your review, i'm expecting the trend to be around 8km/l city driving. not really an audiophile, but what's important for me is audible yung bass & above average yung quality sa speakers.
I may listen to some radio but most of the time it will be from my phone. trip ko na mga songs are from rock bands such as metallica, pantera, dream theater, 90's alternative(pinoy & foreign). not sure if there are other members into these kinds of songs.

again, salamat and hopefully maayos na ung problema sa brakes. good day sa inyo.

As the resident lurker of Tsikot's car audio section and a proud new owner of a 4x2 Titanium Plus model, I'd say the stock system is better than the stock Sonata. Given that it has a subwoofer near the 3rd row seats as with our Expedition, meron yan amplifier somewhere to power. This is why overall volume overhead was surprising.
For the settings, I would recommend a Bass +2/+3, mid + 1, treble + 2 with the setting focused on the driver with no change in fade and balance. I found that this gives the best tonality after fiddling with it.

[Note: We do have a 1st-gen Fortuner and Montero and those are my comparos]
I would say the 2.2L diesel surprised me. I'd say that it's more than enough for city driving. I'm currently averaging 7.5km/L on congested traffic -- my avg. speed is something like 9km LOL. I find the diesel sound to be intrusive as it revs up (in comparison, the LC200's diesel is way more civilized) but this is normal for the PPV segment. It just so happens that I set the bar up high in that category with this being a 2nd-gen PPV model and all.
This light EPS is something of a mixed bag. On one side, I do highly enjoy the light steering given city traffic but on the otherhand I feel that it's too light for my taste. Its EPS is akin to a 2007 Expedition in feel if anybody has driven that. Overall, I still like it over hydraulic assisted steering of its peers and is a plus on my book.
What surprised me the most is NVH levels. Once it gets up to speed and if you let go of the throttle, you're practically cocooned. Hell, it's possible more quiet than my own Sonata and it's as quiet as a rolling Land Cruiser once inside. Incredible NVH for Php2m.
