So alternator gets turned off (technically detached from the drive belt) if the battery is full to ease the load on the engine. In effect more power can be derived from the engine which becomes more pronounced at full throttle
Eventually when the battery goes low, the alternator is engaged again to charge the battery to restore the lost energy from all its electrical and electronics load
Ok i got it
I have seen the stock ford battery at the car show earlier

^fast charge is another nifty feature, i see
The faster the battery charge fully the sooner the alternator can be unloaded from the engine
This thing reminds me of an electronic circuit for charging battery and it employs an electronic component known as SCR (silicon controlled rectifier) to control the engagement of the alternator
With higher voltage to charge faster i think there is a way to tune this type of alternator to a regular battery with a high current voltage regulator that produce a lower voltage than the stock regulator. This will just engage the alternator more frequently and stress out the engine
To completely disable the smart alternator is to trick the sensor into thinking that the battery is always low by feeding the sensor a constant voltage by disabling the SCR circuit and stepping down the output of the voltage regulator so as not to damage a regular battery. This way the engine is stressed all the time
