The power of the 7 seats and diesel.
Sa US, mas mahal ang diesel kesa gas. Americans also doesnt have extended families to fully utilise the 7 seats.

Inverse naman dito sa asia.

Americans do buy 7-seaters but they go for big vehicles, not cramped ones. They would go for midsize crossovers (Explorers, Pilots, Four-Runners, Pathfinders, etc) or the bigger full-size SUVs (Expeditions, Tahoes, Escalades, Sequioas, Armadas, etc).

What's wrong with the Ford Escape here? ... It's not selling well ... Well, it's not selling at all ... But in the U.S., it's one of the best selling compact crossovers ...

Ford after sales service is inconsistent/bad
Priced badly vs competition
Used to have the DCT

In the US, AFAIK, the CRV and RAV4 outsell this.

The much older generation of the Escape sold well locally and it even shared its platform with the Mazda Tribute when Mazda was still a Ford partner.

The replacement generation took a long time to be sold locally and Ford already had bad reputation with their aftermarket service.

The Escapes was never introduced with the DCT tranny as it always came with a conventional AT tranny. DCT was only available on the Focus TDCI (wet clutch) and the Focus/Fiesta/Ecosport (dry clutch).

The last generation of the Escape (same platform as the Focus) sold locally came with Ecoboost engines. The AWD model had the 2.0L Ecoboost engine which is shared with the Explorer 2.0L Ecoboost, engine output was rated at 250hp/350Nm. The FWD model had the 1.6L Ecoboost engine which was rated at 180hp/250Nm. Both models had the 6-speed conventional AT tranny which is now used on the Focus 1.5L Ecoboost and the new generation Ecosport.

Sales was just low as it had to compete against the likes of the Forester SJ and CX5. The AWD 2.0L Ecoboost model is a capable performer and offers a good match to the Forester XT in terms of straightline performance on the tarmac but the Forester XT offer better offroad performance.

Ford had a clearance sale of both AWD and FWD models in late 2016 and early 2017 with discounts up to 500k to clear their local inventory.
