hi guys, im new here. just wanna ask the opinions of owners or any useful infos regarding 1998- 00 ford f150 xlt w/ v6 engine. im thinking of getting one for business use. i have a honda accord, & the problem w/ cars is that you can't carry many stuffs unlike pick ups or trucks. id like to know, how's the gas consumption, city & hiway? are the parts expensive, or you can compare the prices to honda parts? what are there problems occuring when you reach the 100k mileage? where can i buy spare parts aside from casa? tnx & more power.

if your business is hauling heavy equipment, then the f150's the truck for you.
That's its main purpose.
Put on a shell it turns into the expedition. People see big cars as status symbols. These car types have very low resale value due to costly mainentance and being a gas guzzler. You dont buy it for it's economy but for its pulling power.
Parts are not plenty compared to japanese vehicles. Also you can't bring it to your neighborhood mechanics for major problems. American cars reliablity are a bit questionable.

bro,
you may want to drop by www.fordclubph.com and ask the F150 owners there.

i think it would be better to consider the Frontier or Hilux or Strada of the same year

F150 will have the "pulling power" as mentioned above. di ka magsisisi sa power ng F150, with that V6 engine. but be warned that fuel consumption of the jazz and the F150 will be light years away.

July 19th, 2011 11:18 PM #8A F150 will give you 5kms/liter if your lucky. Maybe 8 or 9 km/l on the highway. And if its 98 or 99 model, its old.
A Jazz will do 10km/l or better in the city. No comparisson

I would buy an F150 for personal use but definitely not for business, it wouldn't be economicaly feasable. I am actually also in the market for a used one for weekend drives.
I would get a more modern diesel powered pickup for business use.
As for hauling power, the current Ranger has a torque of 330 for the 2.5L and 380 for the 3.0L compare that to the F150 V6 has a torque of 342. So I doubt the F150 will out haul any of the current mid-size diesel powered pick-ups available in the market today. Plus the fact that the F150 you are planning to purchase is already 10+ years old, so the engine is most likely not in the best condition.
Could also be due to the high demand that the manufacturer prioritized new car deliveries vs. spare...
