May 28th, 2019 02:00 PM #1Car is toyota innova diesel 2014model.
80tkm odo
When the engine reach operating temp(Temp guage needle is above 5 bars) i check the dipstick and saw some puff of white smoke coming out. It was barely visible.
Mas mataas pala yung consume ng diesel. Since my last change oil.
From 6.9kpl to 6.4kpl accrding sa front info display.
Ngayon 1 full tank only reaches 290kms. Dati 320kms
Should i be worried?

Sounds suspiciously like blow-by.
First, check the PCV system... PCV valve and all.

May 28th, 2019 02:14 PM #4Smoke from dipstick is normal for a diesel engine.. also you should not check the oil level or pull out the dipstick while the engine is running!
Check your fuel filter and air filter or try changing fuel brands and see if your consumption will improve

Sabi nila kung konti lang yung smoke from crankcase ok lang for a diesel. Sa oil filler cap usually tinitingnan. If a steady stream of white smoke is there it might be time for an overhaul.
Unless you've been losing a lot of oil between oil changes I wouldn't worry. If you are, have a compression test done.

Does the Innova D4d have a pcv valve? Always thought it was just a breather hose.

yun din naisip ko...
for me it's the easiest way to see the condition of the engine... lalo na when looking at a second hand car...
yung iba nga buong oil cap ang tinatanggal... pero since maliit butas nung dipstick, mas madali makita yung kung may smoke

May 28th, 2019 04:09 PM #8Agreed, agreed, agreed. However, I would defer the overhaul... When the smoke is unbearable and the oil consumption is like 1L a week.
I have an Innova Grab car with the same dipstick smoke issue since 2016... Now 3 yrs later, 160k km... Still serves its purpose, no worsening of smoke, eats 1L oil every 6wks...just in time for its change oil
