May 20th, 2013 12:36 AM #1Hi guys,
I just want to ask your opinion regarding my Advie.
2006 Adventure diesel, 88k on the odo, due for PMS and change Timing Belt (PMS was last done 5k kms ago), fuel filter last replaced 10k kms ago, air filter last replaced 5k kms ago.
Engine speed seems to be rev-limited to 3k rpm. I can make it run up to 100kph (3k rpm) with no problems. But beyond that, further depressing on the accelerator pedal (as in pedal to the metal) only result to black, black smoke, as if the additional diesel is burnt and then sent to the exhaust directly, no increase in speed.
Can this be a symptom of the timing belt needed to be replaced? As if the timing belt is slipping at high rpm. I know that my unit is due for oil change, but Im somehow doubtful that this is the sole problem.
By the way, I used to mix 2T on my diesel. Do you think it messed up my injectors?

May 20th, 2013 09:57 AM #4Na-max ko kasi dati yung advie ko ng 130kph, around 4200 rpm. So may baseline ako kung may problema yung makina. In the situation I described above, ayaw talaga umangat ng RPM.

May 20th, 2013 10:23 AM #5Use quality air filter. Use OEM. I haven't seen quality replacement air filter for the mitsu advie or the L300. Chances are you're air filter is super dirty or you are using cheap replacement air filter

Diesel engines need to be cleaned and calibrated every so often. Yours might be blocked. Take it to a competent diesel specialist such as Berrima, Malabon diesel or Central diesel for them to have a look.

May 21st, 2013 10:11 AM #8An update:
I had my oil changed and my air filter cleaned, still the problem persists. Sinubukan ko harurot kagabi, after 2000 rpm, mabagal na ang acceleration nya.
I guess next in line would be to change the timing belt.
