May 30th, 2017 01:44 PM #165[QUOTE=maculet;2835819]
Funny thing is here in Philippines most of the small - medium taliers mechanics will tell you all of the parts they are buying or installing in your car are either "ORIG" or "JAPAN" or "GERMANY" or "US" or "PASOK SA CASA ITONG BRAND" or "PASADO SA CASA ITO" wordings although they buy China, Taiwan, Thailand, India and etc... 1st thing is why would they tell their customers(consumers) that they are buying poor substandard quality parts, they get more profit from poor quality once since they are so cheap that sometimes it just costs like the same as a cheap candy or value meal from Jollibee but unlike the candy and Jollibee this parts are poor in terms of durability and will damage your other parts, SECONDLY this types of mechanics aim to have more repairs coming back to them if they install or fix your car using the best quality parts then it will take you a long time before going back to your mechanic and having them fix, THIRD reason most mechanics are corrupt just like our politicians, if they offer to buy your parts for you then sorry to say they have "KAIBIGAN" auto supply shops which they usually buy the parts in which they try to buy the cheap cost parts or average cost parts then they tell their "KAIBIGAN" auto supplies to put a higher price on the receipt instead of the normal SRP when you buy it yourself for example this ball joint from taiwan usually sells at P500/pc if you buy it from the retail shop but if the mechanic buys it for you then the price on the receipt will be priced at P1500/pc, this is just an example I'm going to tell you guys, and this practice is rampant throughout our country.
My advice: BUY THE PART YOURSELVES, CANVASS THE PRODUCT BY COMPARING AN APPLE(BRAND A) with an APPLE(BRAND A), because when you canvass without knowing a brand then you are prone to getting BRAND B OR C instead of getting your BRAND A. CANVASSING spare parts are hard as you need the brand because unlike cellphones, laptops and cameras which you have few choices like SAMSUNG, APPLE, ASUS or etc... spare parts have so many brands that are using fake Japanese & German brand names to cover up the China, Taiwan, Thailand, Malaysia, Indonesia, India origins.
REMEMBER WHY YOU PURCHASED A JAPAN, AMERICAN, GERMAN, ITALIAN vehicles is because of one thing THEIR QUALITY and EFFICIENCY compared to other car manufacturers. IF YOU REPLACE YOUR CAR'S PARTS with SUB-STANDARD replacement parts THEN YOU ARE LOWERING THE EFFICIENCY AND QUALITY OF YOUR VEHICLES TO CHINA, INDIA and etc... LEVEL OF QUALITY it is equivalent of buying a China, India vehicles since you are already replacing part by part.

May 30th, 2017 03:39 PM #167[QUOTE=JapanABC;2836927]Problem here in the Phils. Limited yung good quality brand na pagpipilian at bibilhan.
Pag naghanap ka ng good brand ng oil filter. Usual na ibinibigay Vic, bosch.
Pupunta ka pa manila kung baldwin bibilhin mo, or casa naman kung OEM.
Kung brake pads naman, bendix, bosch at OEM.
Here are some list of Japan Brand Brake pads: Akebono, Advics/Sumitomo, NiBK, Nisshinbo, Asuki, FBL, Miyaco, Tokico, Kashiyama(Most is not for sale in the Phils.)

May 30th, 2017 06:16 PM #168[QUOTE=maculet;2836982]Ang problem din kasi is yung most of the buyers are looking for "MURA" or "BARATO" kaya limited good quality brands lang ang meron dito sa PH. Also some amount of retail shops like to have big profit margins that is why they buy cheap brands because if they buy higher costing good quality brands their profit margin will be smaller.
Sorry, let me correct your statement lang AKEBONO will be relaunch here in Philippines by the exclusive distributor around maybe 4th quarter of the year. Advics is also being sold here in Philippines by 2 distributors both of them are located in Metro Manila area, NiBK is a FAKE Japanese brand this company is really from SINGAPORE and is importing their brake pads in CHINA they just repacked it into their box, ASUKI is also a FAKE Japanese brand the brand is just made up by a SINGAPORE company which they import from CHINA and TAIWAN and repacked into their box as ASUKI brand. FBL brake pads is being sold by a distributor located in Metro Manila, MIYACO is a Japanese company but they don't manufacture BRAKE PADS/SHOES they only manufacture brake/clutch repair kits they just buy brake pads from other sources. TOKICO is too expensive to market here in Philippines as TOKICO is owned by HITACHI which usually sells very expensive priced products, MK Kashiyama is also a Japanese company but only a replacement brand like Bendix some importer in Valenzuela is distributing them to a limitied amount of shops that would like to purchase by some shops.

May 30th, 2017 06:26 PM #170Usually sa Banawe they don't carry the better quality products such as brake pads and filters since the rental fee in Banawe is too expensive they can not afford to stock high cost product for a long time can you imagine a 2-3 person store has a monthly rent of approximately P50,000 bigger shops more than 5-8 person shops costs approximately P100,000 a month, only few banawe shops tend to carry higher end products as they will not be able to survive stocking high cost products which sell slower due to demand for cheaper quality products.
Kelangan din kasi ng Banawe auto shops ng cheap yet market known brand na since majority of the consumers have no idea sa good quality products.
Mapapansin niyo ang carry ng most of the shops are the following brand:
VIC - Filter(Below average quality filtration)
Circuit - Wiper Blade (Made in China low cost product)
Narva - Auto bulb (Almost of all them are made in China)
Bendix - Brake Pads(Outsourced from independent factories in Thailand and Malaysia)
If majority of the consumers are still ignorant then our market for REAL reputable brands will have less chance entering the market.
Agree with you there. Nicely put.
