Damaged Piston Ring

I suspect that my car has a damaged piston ring because it continues to consume a lot of oil even though I had the valve seals replaced already.

My car was overhauled about a year ago. Do I need to have it overhauled again? Is there any cheap way of replacing the piston ring without overhauling the engine?

What happens to the engine if I continue to use my car with a damaged piston ring? Wala pa kasing budget sa ngayon e.

Do you know of any shop you can recommend who can do the above repair at a reasonable/cheap price in Makati/Pasay area? How much would I need to budget for the repair?

Continue to use your car and you'll consume more oil. Pede naman "dukot" yan. Dukot ng piston ring not the other "dukot" in your mind guys.

yup sir ganun na lang gawin nyo mag dala na lang kayo ng extra oil sa car nyo

gaano ba kabilis mag bawas ng oil??

dapat nung una mo siya pinagawa, piston ring na agad ang pinasilip mo. yung valve seals kasi bihira yan mag-cause ng oil consumption.

before you conclude na piston ring ang sira please check:
1. maiitim ba usok sa tambutso?
2. kung maitim ang usok, remove the the spark plugs kung maitim din (maraming carbon)
3. dapat isa lang ang maitim kung piston ring ang sira. very unusual na lahat ng piston ring masira ng sabay-sabay
4. kung lahat maitim most probably na di piston ring ang sira, maaring leak lang somewhere.

Pano po ba yung dukot? Aside from the piston ring ano po ba ang kailangang palitan pag pinadukot ko yung piston ring? Magkano po sa tingin nyo ang labor cost ng dukot compared sa overhaul? Specialist po ba ang kailangan o halos lahat ng mekaniko marunong magdukot ng piston ring?

madaming pwedeng reasons why makonsumo ng langis ang kotse... pwedeng may leak... pwedeng may matigas na gaskets, pwede din sa bandang transmission may problem din, pwede dingbaluktot na mga barbula... etc...

general overhaul ba ang ginawa last year? whether it's a general or a top overhaul you should track ung mga pinalitang piyesa. try to first check if walang tagas by having a decent engine wash (those who really know how to do it without damaging your electrical components- alternator, distributor, and everything else electrical- ung mga male and female receptacles pwede ding mapasukan ng tubig and masira), and see if may tagas.

if wala, it can be the transmission or the engine parts already.

Oo nga sir I should have asked the mechanic to check the piston ring. Atsaka dapat nagtanong muna ako dito sa tsikot forum. Thanks.
