My wife is currently in the Philippines to see my ailing father-in-law and their car brokedown. Their favorite mechanic looked at it and told my sister-in-law it was the alternator. Now my wife just called asked if I could find out how much an alternator is and what shop would be good to take the car. She mentioned Rapide but having read the other threads here I made sure she didn't take it there. It's too bad I am not in the Philippines myself otherwise I would repair the car and not take it to a shop. Need you help guys in finding a good shop around Sucat/Alabang area and what the price is for the alternator? Btw the car is a 96/97 Corolla GLI.
TIA

nasa around 5k yun reconditioned (new brushes, bearings). DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR TO RAPiDE. Sa HandyMan may mga alternator almost same price as the surplus/recon ones, brand new pa. They have units for popular car makes.

I think I paid Php4,500 for a refurbished one. That includes labor for the install already. And this was for a diesel with a huge alternator. Unfortunately I'm in QC.
Handyman is in Ayala Malls if I'm not mistaken.

red,

Thanks guys
If they lived in the Cainta area it would be easy because I have family there but they're from Sucat and I am not familiar with the area. I'll YM them the info now. Now just gotta find a shop.
It was kind of funny because her first comment on the phone after letting me know they broke down was "can you check with the people in Tsikot how much the alternator is and where to get it fixed?" This from the woman who made fun of me because I kept going to the forum. LOL

She can also try SM Hardware.
The SM Hardware here in QC also has some alternators in stock. Prices may not be rock bottom, but it's a pretty safe venue for someone who's not really into cars.
