    The car is a 2004 Lancer MX (with SRS bags). Is there a cheaper way to repair the horn switch of the car without replacing the whole set? We asked the casa regarding the repair, and it amounted to around 8k. just for the repair/replacement of the horn switch by the steering wheel. Crazy. Reason: it has airbags, so they have to replace the airbags as well. The steering wheel horn switch works sometimes, most of the time it doesn't. I did install a separate switch for the horn, but that defeats the purpose of have a horn button ready by the steering wheel. Is there a way, or is there a shop who could take care of removing the airbags and replacing/repairing the horn switch (the casa not included of course)?Could the relay have a glitch perhaps? Would it be safe to just replace the relay without triggering the srs airbags?

    i think the casa is pointing to the clockspring not the airbag assembly itself.

    the driver's airbag has to come out in order to replace the clockspring

    ive seen lots of problems from the clockspring and not even one to the horn switch

    so the clockspring plus labor costs around 10k? quite a steal...is it possible to replace the clockspring without triggering the airbags? on my own or through other shops with a much cheaper labor?

    replacing the clockspring ;

    ignition off

    remove neg . battery term.

    press brake pedal 25 times

    wait at least five minutes

    then you can start to work on it

    worst scenario airbag light sets after repairs

    you have to know a shop that's equipped with scanner that can work on your car (erase the code)
