if just the alternator, you can drive it for as long as there is enough power in the battery to fire up your engine and your aux fan. if your trip is malapit naman, you may just complete it before something really bad, happens.
that is, assuming you can start the engine. the more times you start it, the shorter the above distance will be.

but if your belt also powers the power steering (which i believe it does), i would not recommend driving that car on the street. it is very very difficult to move that manibela without the PS steering.

happened to my 2005 lancer gls recently. alternator belt broke. do not try to run it. it is connected to the water pump. aside from draining and possible damaging your battery, it will cause your engine to overheat. better buy the belt and bring a mechanic back.

Nasira ang IC ng alternator so nagpalit ako ng bago in less than a year nasira. natanggal ung bolt and nuts nung harap na kinakabitan ng fan belt. bumalik ako sa shop nun ang sabi pagpapalitin lng ung unahan n part ng luma kong alternator since wala ng thread at wala ng nut.Pwede po ba un? pa help po

Dalhin mo kanila yock's auto electrical repair shop. Sa cubao Sila Banda along edsa. Magaling Sila at doon outsource Ng mga ilang casa alternator problems Ng mga kliyente nila.

Kung nasa ncr ko Sila Ang best bet ko sa experience ko. Dinayo ko pa Sila from the south.
