November 13th, 2008 05:17 PM #1Lately I saw a tempting ad of 05 Optra 1.8LT at price ranges way below 03 CITY.. very enticing yet I ask...
1. How come there's nmo price listing of it in the company's website?
2. If GM closes, what will happen to future parts for maintenance?
thanks

The low price means something else other than being a "best buy". More like a lemon that the current owner is desperately trying to get rid off.
IMHO, I would rather choose other cars like the Honda Jazz 1.3L A/T and Vios 1.3L

There's no price listing because GM discontinued the 1.8 Optra locally. It didn't give enough performance to justify the poor fuel economy. They're focusing on the "budget" end of the market with the 1.6s.
Too bad. I would've loved to see a 2-liter Optra Wagon... diesel.
In general, though, the older generation Optras were plagued by ECU glitches which caused poor fuel economy and, in rare cases, blown engines. If the car's still in one piece, then the engine likely won't blow... but I can't assure you that economy will be any good. Aftersales service is reportedly quite good, though...

December 26th, 2008 09:51 AM #6hmmm... i don't agree on good after sales service of Chevy, its the other way.
The 12-month warranty on the factory battery ended a few days ago. SOH is still good at over 90%,...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
