    Apart from an alarm, you can also install a steering wheel and brake lock mechanism. This ensures that thieves don't drive away with your vehicle by preventing the steering wheel from turning and it stops the brake from engaging to prevent thieves from putting the vehicle in drive gear.

    i remember my dad had an electrician install a kill switch on his cars during the era of epidemic car thefts. on his galant, he installed the switch behind the grill. it was quite the maneuver to reach the button so i was the designated one to enable/disable the system - since i was flexible enough to do the reaching as a young kid.

    speaking of which, i've read that the installation of kill switches are back in vogue in america since carnapping is on the rise over there. apparently, thieves have developed a work around immobilizers.
