Hi guys,
The car manual says to use unleaded with minimum 95 octane but what happens if you use unleaded with minimum 93 octane? Is this bad?
Which gasoline( shell, petron, caltex) has the unleaded 95 octane?
appreciate hearing from tsikoteers.

Many modern engines will retard / advance their timing to adapt to the lower octane fuel. This will however result in poor fuel consumption and engine performance.
All gasoline distributors here retail a 95 (and above) RON unleaded fuel (Petron Blaze, Petron XCS, Shell Velocity, Caltex Gold, Seaoil Unleaded, Seaoil Extreme, Total Infinity, etc.).

Usually, there is a "knock" sensor that detects if the engine is experiencing pinging or detonation (signs that the gas is burning BEFORE the sparkplug ignites), when this occurs, the system adjusts accordingly. On some high performance cars, you can lose up to 5-10 hp from using lower octane gas, but on most "95 Octane only" road cars, you'll lose just 1-2 hp, hardly noticeable in most situations.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
