Unfortunately, what I saw in socmed was that their BYD won't start/run because it needs an update to be completed.
But cannot complete the update because the data signal was crappy due to it was parked in the basement.

Im assuming Tesla might also encounter this issue.
Pretty sure the engineers have foreseen this and will default to the previous working firmware when signal is not good to DL and install the update. Much like your fone and Windows will hold the update till it gets a good connection.

Yupp, that should have been what should happen.
But it happened and it went viral, signaling another negative sentiment to own an EV.

This would rarely happen if the QA people are Japanese.
They will anticipate this kind of situation and will demand a release schedule extension or will hold the release with their own power until the major flaw won't be solved.

If Nikkei is saying that then things must really be dire for the Japanese manufacturers.

Pretty much a risk with internet connected vehicles. I won't be surprised if contemporary ICE vehicles from VW are also affected.

if that type of profession is legal in that part of the world,
"... i understand the situation, but what seems to be the problem?"

but i would be very interested in the person who leaked the info, ... and fire him! i mean, that type of info are personal information!

The problem is that VW is storing the info (that imo they shouldn't be collecting in the first place) in an unsecured manner that the exact paths to files containing sensitive info can be easily be obtained/guessed at and then freely downloaded.

Neta electric car goes from 401 km to 40 km range in 1.5 years | Car News China

the car’s battery had failed and the battery pack needed to be replaced. However, the battery pack is not in stock so the dealership has no way to replace it.
The dealership is unable to give Ms He an accurate repair time, only saying that it would not be possible until sometime in the New Year; it’s not clear whether they mean after Chinese New Year (January 29) or not.

The dealership has contacted the manufacturer many times, but the battery pack is out of stock.
