October 24th, 2007 04:08 PM #12Come to think of it It would be a chaos if most people can afford new cars,
(Trafficc and Pollution)
I guess its between
Anybody That can afford a new car
VS
Few People choosing a smaller cheaper car.
Am I making sense here?

===
MAXBUWAYA, here's the updated excise tax... (600K pala not 700K from my earlier post):
SEC. 149. Automobiles. — There shall be levied, assessed and collected an ad valorem tax on automobiles based on the manufacturer's or importer's selling price, net of excise and value-added taxes, in accordance with the following schedule:
Net manufacturer's price/
Rate
importer's selling price up to P600 Thousand 2%
Over P600 Thousand to P1.1 Million
P12.000 + 20% of value in excess of P600 Thousand
Over P1.1 Million to P2.1 Million
P112,000 + 40% of value in excess of P1.1 Million
Over P2.1 Million
P512,000 + 60% of value in excess of P2.1 Million

Got that from the BIR web site
Kaya pala ang layo ng price ng Avanza J and Avaza G. Hinabol ng Toyota ang price para di lalagpas sa 600K.
So kung 600K 2% lang ang tax?Last edited by meledson; October 24th, 2007 at 04:23 PM.

What if they just reduce the tax on cars so that people will buy more, and more investors come in? tutal an dami mahilig sa kotse sa pinas
wont the money put in by investor make up for the reduction in tax. eventually, more people/companies will be employed, gov't will have more tax money.

IMO, buying "more cars" isn't a good strategic stategy given the traffic congestion that we are currently experiencing here in Metro Manila (and the nearby suburbs).
Anyway, the 2% tax on sub P600K vehicles is more than enough incentive for the buyers of entry-level and utilitarian vehicles. I don't think that the 12% VAT will be waived just for vehicles.

heehee, wouldn't the drastically lower cost of ownership be reason enough? i wonder who still would consider an economy car for a little more incentive...
Will wonders never cease with Motolite? Ha ha.
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
