It's not that. The Supra is well-modified, and the Skyline is an old R32. They didn't even post mods and power levels for either car, and there was no specification on if the Skyline was a GTR model (it may have been an RB25DET RWD model). Not bad times for the Supra, but there are R32's down into the low 8's on street tires.

Kaya nga not bad lang... lots of Supras around 9 seconds in streetable trim.
Generally, the Supra makes a terrific drag car compared to the Skyline because it's RWD. The Skyline is a better dyno-queen (makes huge HP in testing) and track attack car (sets fast laps... though street Skylines don't have enough in terms of brake durability for long races) but the Supra is generally a preferred dragster as RWD generally has less wasted power than AWD if you're both on slicks and launching well. On street tires, it's sometimes a different story.

Enthusiasts still believe RWD best defines a true sports car. The Supra's chassis is designed to handle even up to 1000 hp, but its sheer size and weight are somehow a letdown especially for mountain racing. But it's an excellent drag car and also performs well at the circuit. As for the Skyline, I guess an Evo or WRX is more agile in the corners being smaller, lighter cars, but the Nissan is still a serious track and strip car with the right mods and calibrations. :D

The Evo and the Skyline are the favorite "track attack" cars in Japan. The current track attack king, Tarzan Yamada alternates between a fully modified Evo and a fully modified Skyline. The Skyline can dogfight well with the Evo, but it will run out of brakes very quickly because of the weight. I saw a run in the Mine's Skyline before with Kenichi Tsuchiya (drift king) setting a lap record. They said that the Skyline's first lap is ALWAYS its fastest.

Agree with you there. Nicely put.
