November 3rd, 2014 05:19 PM #1Hi all, I've been a member of this forum since 2012 but I usually just lurk and read reviews...
Finally I think I'm ready to buy my very first car and I'm posting this thread to ask for suggestions for the best vehicle that can fit most if not all of the following criteria:
1. Must be comfortable for a 6'2
2. Hopefully with good design (pang binata at pangmatangkad)
3. For everyday city driving (Alabang to Ortigas)
4. Under PHP 1 million
5. 5 or 7 seater is fine
Just the thought of maybe one of your suggestions will be my very first ride makes me so excited haha.
Looking forward to reading your responses! Thanks!

An officemate here is 6-2 and drives an Alto 800, & loves it to death... ^^
For 1M, the entry level Tucson a/t is within your sights, the ubiquitous Innova E a/t in d4d is also in the mix, plus the manual Hilux or Strada if you're into really big drives. The traditional Grand Vitara is also at that range.
For mid sized sedans, you can't miss with the Altis or the Civic or the new Mazda3 in 1.5L guise
Good luck in your car hunt!

November 3rd, 2014 06:04 PM #6Thanks everyone for the responses!
The Tucson was not an option for me because I have an uncle and a cousin who owns a Tucson and though their experience with the car overall is good, they had problems with after-sales daw.
As for the sedans, I really love Mazda 3's look, its by far the best looking out of all the suggested cars so far but you guys sure it has enough leg room? So far Ive only tried Civic, I wouldnt say it has generous leg room but pwede na. Altis di ko pa rin nasubukan though parang hindi ko type ang Altis. How about Cruze?
Innova is also an option for me since it can accommodate more people kaya lang very generic ang look. I think I'll pass on the pick-ups.
Very hard to decide considering na pinag-ipunan ko to.

November 4th, 2014 12:02 PM #9Warning: This is a megapost
By "generic" I mean very common and sobrang dami nang may Innova. May pagkahipster ako minsan e haha but of course its just a minor concern.
I was also considering Cruze kasi based I heard okay din leg room niya. But yeah, best to check it via a test drive
It is quite "guapo" I agree esp the latest current design.
Thanks! I do fit in comfortably in an Innova. It's just that siguro I like to read feedback from other users' other cars baka kasi I'm missing something out and I'm focusing too much on my main criteria.
Sorry but what do you mean by "anemic engine?" Im not quite familiar with this phrase.
Agree the Cruze looks outdated. It needs a lift.
But based on your post I can probably live with the boring or the slow one.
Thanks!
lol quite tempting tbh! if I had extra money I'd get it. Kaya lang I'm leaning towards buying a new one since like I said, the money is hard-earned!
Oooh, another one for Ecoobost. Can you tell me more why its fun to drive it?
Agree! And thank you for this!
Thanks! But I find its looks a bit boring.
Right now the Mazda is really one of the top contenders. However I believe its good to ask for others opinions as well especially those who are knowledgeable and updated when it comes to cars. Besides the leg room concern, looks and budget I'm worried I might be missing some important stuff that can later on be a game changer (like I never really considered resale value and FC that much before compared to now)
Thanks!
Yeah, I would only consider buying a 2nd hand if its coming from someone I know and I can trust.
I can only go as high as 1m pag cash. Actually yung 1.2m through bank/installment is quite a stretch na nga for me.

NOTHING beats a test drive of your target vehicle.
Maybe this can help:
Auto Focus to hold 2014 test drive festival at MOA - Auto News
There would be numerous models from 14 carmakers to choose from. Good luck!
The 12-month warranty on the factory battery ended a few days ago. SOH is still good at over 90%,...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
