Top Gear Philippines rated it 18 out of 20!

Cheap car, good FC, ok aircon and features.

Mas maingat din daw tayo sa car kaya bihira ka makakita ng driver na maxed out ang RPM...

There are better cars in the International Market. Kaya lang sa atin, for it's price range mahirap bigyan ng negative review and Mirage.

Always thought the Mirage is a smaller car that competes with the Brio, Wigo and Eon.

Almera should be the same category as the Vios, City and Accent.

It's probably because the Almera lags so much behind its rivals in sales that it is priced to sell vs the smaller subcompacts.

Given that it is a category higher, the parts used and interior appointments should be a notch higher than the Mirage.

    Yes...

I posted a long list of complains about the Mirage on another thread...
Passenger lang wife and daughter ko and they both hated it.

    Almera handled much better.

But as I posted din earlier (also on another thread)

My ex staff bought a GLS G4 and it's her first brand new car... Tuwang tuwa naman sya and much better than her old Corolla E100.

My fiance is looking to buy her first car soon with the ff. main priorities:
    1. Automatic transmission (not an option)
    2. Comfort - good A/C, easy driving experience (daily driving from Makati and QC during rush hour)
    3. Durability (will panic if car breaks down - 2nd hand not currently an option)
    4. Price (around 800K)
    5. Size (compact sedan - she's only 4'11")

Performance is not a concern as she'll probably be driving very slow.

She's currently thinking about the following:
    Honda City 1.5E - 868K (pricier side)
Kia Rio 1.4SL - 807K (parts availability concern)
    Mitsubishi Mirage G4 GLX - 717K
    Nissan Almera 1.5E - 824K
    Suzuki Ciaz 1.4GL - 845K
Suzuki Dzire GL+ - 698K (good price but still with a stick)
    Toyota Vios 1.3E - 841K

P.S. I did not include Fiesta and Accent due to reliability issues.

Any advice and/or past experiences with the above choices?

    THANK YOU!!!
Suzuki Dzire with the AGS looks like a good contender. It's priced at the lower end of the range and it is easy to drive, economical, decently equipped (rear AC vents and 12v socket) and is an automatic… well of sorts. Is there something glaringly bad or missing about this car?

^^^ Is it me or is the Suzuki D-Zire an ugly-looking car? The Swift looks better.

saw the actual unit already and to me it's ok and definitely better looking than the old Swift D-zire. inside, i was surprised by the space, rear aircon vents and 12v socket. medyo alangan lang ako sa AGS since i have the QQ AMT which is similar though most likely the Suzuki AGS is more refined.

IMO, based on the car's mentioned at the start of this thread...

#1 Honda City 1.5E or Toyota Vios 1.3E (I prefer the bigger engine, but if my wife or daughter is driving, safety first so it'll be the Vios)

#3 Mitsubishi Mirage G4 GLX or Nissan Almera 1.5E (yes the Almera will handle and age better, but the Mirage will be easier to sell plus it has more toys... Based on the mentioned prices, the Mirage is also 83k below the 800mark!)

price of the Vios 1.3E CVT is already at PHP878,000.

agree with ice15 but I'd also add the Ciaz 1.4GL in #1 for closer comparison/consideration just because of its size and my experience with the Ertiga and Suzuki in general, which is quite good.
