January 25th, 2012 12:30 PM #12i had a gli before. same body and 1.6L engine as the glxi sans the airbag, abs, cd changer and other amenities. i just loved the acceleration and handling. ang luwag sa loob esp the headroom. sold it at 150k kms sa odo.
only major and irritating issue i had was erratic idling. after replacing the air intake tube, hoses and even the distributor, cleaning of the intake manifold, numerous changes of spark plugs and 1.5 yrs of patience, it only took a few sprays of contact cleaner to the MAF sensor to solve the problem! hahahaha
tama rin sabi nila, its not the parts that are expensive, it's the labor! sa pagpalit palang ng timing belt almost double ang charge :s
anyway, for me sulit naman ang car na to. get an MT and drive patiently na lang para tipid sa gas.

we also own a mazda 323 a/t for 12 years already. 60k+ sa Odo, ok naman performance...matakaw nga lang sa gas. 5-6km/l yung FC niya.

January 28th, 2012 10:39 AM #16The Lynx shared its platform with the 323 that was not released here (1999-2003 model). The 323 Familia that was sold here until the early 2000s was the global model from 1994-'98.

January 31st, 2012 05:49 PM #19no problem with parts, mostly available in suking auto supply shops and some shops in banawe even specializes in Mazda parts...
the 99 model like mine is most probably what we call the gen 2.5 or the 1997-2000 model ( may lumabas kasi old stocks ng gen 1 ng 2000 ) ...sample pic below
both have the B3 carb 1300 and B6 efi 1600 engines...
true enough that the B6 efi A/T averages around 6km/l on city driving...the M/T averages around 7-8km/l assuming its all stock...my B3 before can do 9-10km/l stock and 13++km/l highway...

loved driving mine from 99-07. roomy, zippy engine, comfy. avoid the a/t na lang since malakas nga sa gas than its competitors, it was hesitatingly replaced with a brand new honda jazz. after 3 years, let go of the jazz and bought a new mazda.
The 12-month warranty on the factory battery ended a few days ago. SOH is still good at over 90%,...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
