I'd go for the city. I have both ridden Lancer GLX and VIOS as taxis and the cars were quite ok. Lancer is quite squeaky for something so new (those I've ridden at least). VIOS is okay, the ride is very stiff though.
I have driven the City (AT) 09 up to 180kmh at SCTEX last weekend and it's surprisingly stable for such a tiny car at that speed. The trunk is surprisingly large too. We did some shopping then at Duty Free and it really surprised me to find there was so much room at the trunk. Power is kind of low though. 0-120kmh is quick but it's a long wait to 160kmh. After 160, 180 is just a little bit longer more. I like the electric steering. It's easy to maneuver as the steering itself is very direct. Audio is very good too. Overall, I'd choose it over Lancer and Vios.

As for the Lancer, i advice na tingnan muna yung forum about the lancer 2009 at wag lang basta mag assume.
Kung pam porma, papogi, e thinking of future resale, then go for the Honda City 2009 1.5.
But if you are looking for more power under hood and the riding comfort, then consider the bigger lancer.
Cheers

Syempre, gustong umandar nung car na me powerful engine. E yung drive naman e nabibitawan yung break, so what do you expect. It happens to most automatic cars na powerful yung engine. Hindi mo naman ma notice yung tunog na yun sa mga cars na less ang power under the hood.
Yun lang po. By the way, I drive an ever reliable ESi sa Philippines. My wife is driving that Lancer GLS 2009. The way she drives it, meron krug-krug.

Sa US since usually highway driving nila dun siguro useful talaga yan. After all, airbags can't defy physics. :D

September 28th, 2009 11:58 AM #35Sorry ngayon lang nakapagreply. Fail net sa dorm + stranded sa UP over the weekend = D:
LeOxe: Thanks so much. I never knew the Lancer had 60/40 and that's a good thing para sa luggage haul namin.
jut703: Yeahh. At hindi ko gets. And I agree doon sa overgeneralization.
p_borj: We're not really into the speed but more into the safety.
What we can afford is 1.3 A variant lang eh.
guevarajf: Ok lang actually dahil for me kung maingat ka naman hindi ka maaksidente. And we had a past experience with airbags, and I won't really want to delve into it. At oo, ganyan kami magusap ni jut703 HAHAHA. Kaklase ko kasi yan nung 4th year HS. And yung sa kroog-kroog, present kaya yan sa GLX?
jut703: I agree.
Thanks talaga for the inputs! Please keep them coming :D

Yup I know you're more into safety which is tama.

September 28th, 2009 03:42 PM #39I agree na safe driving is still better than ABS, pero it's my dad's decision. Personally, I wish we had the money for a Strada kahit GL pero hanggang Lancer GLX lang talaga kaya ng budget.
)
Hopefully pagdating ng October, makabili na kami. Ang sarap siguro na ang first trip ng new car namin is a weekend trip to Tagaytay for my Dad's birthday.)
Salamat ng marami for the inputs!

September 30th, 2009 08:47 PM #40Vios 1.3E MT 664,000
City 1.3A MT 676,000
Lancer GLX 1.6 685,000
City 1.3S MT 716,000
I just bought my lancer yesterday.
Will wonders never cease with Motolite? Ha ha.
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
