Fuel Efficiency depends on the driver, hence please refrain from posting "I made XXkm/L on my XXX"

"what on earth does 'points' mean?"
do we have to consult a codigo, to tell us how many km a 1000 peso load of fuel will give us?
heh heh.

From the article:
The fuel efficiency numbers on the list will be based on the reviews that we have of the vehicles and will be tallied in terms of points for their respective fuel economy numbers. This means that if a vehicle gets 8 km/L in the city and 16 km/L on the highway then it gets a total of 24 points. In the event of a tie, the vehicle with the higher city fuel efficiency number will take the win. If there are two variants of the vehicle tested, then the model with the higher fuel efficiency figures will be considered. This will better represent what the vehicle is capable of in terms of giving you the best mileage for as little fuel as possible.

April 12th, 2021 12:31 PM #4by the same token,
5 km/li in the city and 19 km/li in the highway also gets 24 points...
as does does 10 km/li in the city and 14 km/li in the highway.

April 15th, 2021 12:03 PM #6they qualified it with, "...the cars we've tested...".
they did not say, "the cars available in the market".
also, perusing the link,
all the cars mentioned are gas-fed sedans.
although the altis hybrid seemed out of the water, as it's a... hybrid.
they did not include the non-sedans, i.e., the mini hatches... wigo, mirage, celerio, eon...
questions arise regarding that article's intentions...Last edited by dr. d; April 15th, 2021 at 12:38 PM.

Minsan naisip ko...
yung mga car reviewers kaya like Caco, James and Reygan (etc)
since they review cars and drive almost everyday, mas matipid kaya talaga sa gas kung sila nag drive?
kasi sa Honda City ko na lang... best F/C na nakuha ko sa 20km/l (super effort yun)
pero real world highway driving is 13-15 tapos 10km/l sa Metro Manila.
yung NMAX ng officemates ko, best they can get is 35km/l sa city, pero reviewers are saying higher "real world" figures

May 19th, 2022 01:15 PM #10Problem is the FC they say in their review is not via Full Tank method. They just rely on the digital FC reading average. Most of them don't even bother to mention the average speed of the trip of how they obtained the said FC reading. While some simply "pass the message" of the marketing materials pertaining to the FC of the car.
If it was via full tank method, the reviewer would have said that as the method they used to get the FC mentioned. But it would be really difficult as well to expect them to give full tank method for a city driving FC scenario and a highway/mixed FC Scenario that would be repeatable for all vehicles they test unlike Bjorn Nyland for his electric range test, Alex on Autos for his daily trip to and fro his house or TFL when they do the highway hill climb and descent FC test.
Will wonders never cease with Motolite? Ha ha.
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
