Hello Tsikoteers,
For me important ang FC. Nowadays, you need to have a fuel-efficient vehicle. Would you believe that the alterra can do 28.39 kms/liter? Check out isuzu phils site where Isuzu Pasig and Alabang had their contest and a 2007 Alterra got 1st place. Sorry, but for me, it would still be Alterra.

Alterra has good mechanicals and also fuel efficient. Medyo mahal nga lang price for the trim although its a solid vehicle. Overall. it may not be the best in the segment but its a good SUV.
Everest is cheaper but very pedestrian (or boring/not audacious enough to some) ang looks and features. Even the pull-out handbrake is truckishly ancient.
Makikita naman sa market placement. Most of those who consider the Everest are either....looking for a mid-sized SUV but have budgetary constraints or unwilling to shell out more.....or looking for a 7-seater AUV-type like the Crosswind but has the extra dough to spend for more space and safety features lacking in the AUVs.
In the provinces, Alterra and Everest are doing well lately in terms of sales.
The segment leader... the Toyota Fortuner somehow tailed of. Mabili noong una dahil sa pogi factor. But somehow habang katagalan nakikita rin ang mga negatives like the suspension resulting in a bouncy ride, lack of manual option, and fuel consumption---factors that matter in the environment and road conditions outside the metropolis.
What would have been perfect is to use the current Iteq CRDI engine but the cabin similar to the Thailand-sourced Adventure Master...Remember the previous Trooper is a nice vehicle until the 4JX-1 fiasco.
Just imagine... people still have high regards sa FM Pajero despite its antiquity. ...a market that could have been captured with the introduction of the Iteq-speced Adventure Master. Sayang talaga....

I'm really not so keen on results from these so called "fuel economy runs." As the name suggests, the results really have little bearing to actual real world figures.
Some fuel figures from C! Magazine...
Highway
Isuzu Alterra 4x4 = 12.82 Km/L
Ford Everest 4x4 = 11.79 Km/L

Yes. "fuel economy" contests are really marketing ploys. Quite effective one, by the way, because it generates interest. Reputations may be earned this way.
Filipinos want the best of both worlds....we desire to have a big and comfortable ride but abhors spending more for the gas. Mahilig din tayo sa mabilis....look at this forum maraming nagtatanong ng top speed. Eh dito ang local options lang naman mga small displacement engines. Pag-inoffer naman V6, V8 engines aangal naman sa laki ng fuel cost.
Well for SUV-type vehicles one should not be VERY sensitive to fuel consumption. Para sa akin 10-12 km/L is just about right for these vehicles. >20 km/L is halleluia.

With increasing prices of fuel today, I would certainly consider a fuel efficient car. Alterra perhaps is more efficient between the two choices.

Blue-labeled Motolite Gold are factory-supplied OEM batteries with only 1 year warranty.
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
