Which of the two is better for:
1.) City driving
2.) Flood fording -
-Escape is FWD so no problems with troubles associated with submerging the differential (Escape has none) as opposed to the Innova.
-Innova's air intake is facing out the right front fender. I have yet to see the Escape's.
3.) We are only max of three passengers everyday.
4.) Ride comfort
-Looks like this one's in the Escape's favor bec. it is a monocoque chassis as opposed to the Innova's body over ladder frame.
Toyota has proven its worth when it comes to reliability (yeah, I know its not bulletproof and my Fortuner has lots of issues also) and resale value (every sucker thinks highly of Toyota thereby helping with the residuals).
Originally, settled firmly with the Innova but the Escape is looking really nice and they are both in the same price bracket. So before considering the Ford, I hope somebody can help flesh some issues when it comes to Ford vehicles:
*Quality issues, parts scarcity, Fix Or Repair Daily stigma, etc...
-let's say the Escape is maintained and driven properly, will it have any premature or unexpected breakdowns or repairs?
*No recirculate aircon setting in the lowest fan setting. This "quirk" has been around for a long time already. Has Ford changed this for this facelift?
Is the Escape easy to service so that I can take it to non casa repair/service shops after the warranty expires.
Lastly, will the Escape suffer poor resale value after 7-8 yrs (we'll use it that long as long as its trouble free) ?

September 21st, 2009 11:53 PM #2Went to Ford dealerships a few months back to check on the Ford Everest for a test drive and saw the Escape. Body still looks the same as the first release with only a bit of cosmetic changes. I would have gone with the Escape because it indeed looks better than the Innova but my experience riding on the 2nd row proved to be quite disappointing. Legroom suffers especially since the 1st gen escape I rode doesn't have adjustable seats for the 2nd row.
1.) City Driving - Both I guess are pretty ok to drive in the city.
2.) Flood Fording - If the type of floods you go through are maybe a foot deep, it wouldn't be much of a problem.
3.) We are only max of three passengers everyday. - You might need the extra seating of the Innova in the future? I dunno but that's my take.
4.) Ride comfort - The Escape has a pretty good ride, but I personally have an Innova and its ride quality is remarkable given that it's riding on a ladder frame chassis. Better to test it out yourself.
Parts will always be an advantage for a Toyota because of sheer volume and popularity.
I suggest take a test drive for each unit and don't mind the resale value after so and so years. Thing is, if you want looks then it's the Escape, but if you want practicality, the Innova is the winner.

1.) +1 sa Innova, i assume na mas maganda FC ang Innova sa Escape however, Escape pa lang nagamit ko and hell, 5km/l on a 30km route daily, haven't use an Innova vvti, a d4d only.
2.) +1 sa Innova again, i know that innova have a higher stance than the escape, and the innova's air filter is mounted higher than the escape. however, my past escape03 survive a punishing knee deep floods here in malabon.
3.) +1 sa Escape, good for 5 people. but you'll never know when you have to load it with 12 passengers, done it with my escape, and i wish i didnt do it. vote for innova still.
4.) +1 sa Escape, sarap ng feeling ng nakaupo sa driver seat ng escape, very comfortable and limitado ang tagtag. lambot ng manibela pero bigat ng clutch if manual.
Escape's spare parts are very very pricey. imagine P4000 for a coolant reservoir tank. and P3500 for a faulty sensor (dont know which sensor). however, can't seem to tell if Innova's parts are expensive too, since its a toyota, maybe parts supply is spreaded and prices are going down.
both have aircon systems that really sucks! i know, because i've already been there.
for the higher resale value, i'll go for the innova, share ko lang bad experience namen sa Escape, bought it second hand for P560K, Jan 2007, sell it by October 07 for P420K, la pang isang taon, ganun na kababa, and everything is in top condition, every faults are have been fix and its the best condition of it ever.
why the very high depreciation? no one wants to buy it.

Escape:
> Expensive Maintenance
> Gas guzzler ( borrowed my friends XLS 2004 model, damn I need to gas it up once in a while, hope at this model ford has improved it's efficiency already )
> Engine response is good
> A/C is cool.
> I like the ride of it.
Innova:
> Fuel Efficiency is definitely better than the escape
> 7 - 8 seating capacity, but since you're just only 3, whats the use of the extra seats?
> Cheaper maintenance.
I like the overall looks of the new escape, slap on some spoilers and some crossrails on it then :2thumbsup:
Hope this Helps.

My thoughts only for 2004 Escape XLS 2.0. Have not yet driven Innova.
City Driving/Ride Comfort
I must say, i feel comfortable driving it. Comparable to sedan's comfort and even better than the Outlander 2008. My sentiment is that I always had to prepare my credit card to load petrol. Fuel consumption is 5-6kms * liter compared to highway/provincial's 8-9kms * liter. Maneuvering/parking is easy as ABC.
Flood Driving
No problem with that. Once in a while, I enjoyed playing with floods. But of course, depends on how deep the flood is.
Quality Issues
Few concerns after 4 years, i replaced:
1) Auto Tensioner/Link assembly 5x cost around 6,000++
2) Alternator once cost around 12,000++
3) Tie Rod cost 3,000.00++
4) The ever tiring backlight na nagme-melt
Now Rack End Pinion is nearing its end....
Physical attribute for me, ESCAPE is the winner.

By looking at the weather today, you might consider sir HP's advice.

Looking at it from a flooding fording point of view, based on what I read on the net, I think Innova and Strada have 500mm fording capability. I don't know about the Escape.
Strada is not practical for us. It is too much of a workhorse. :D

September 26th, 2009 12:59 PM #9Between the 2, Innova na ako, my sister has an '06 Escape 4x2 and that car really sucks, ang baba ng mileage lagi kasi nasa casa for warranty repairs. why not consider the Xtrail 4x2, its only 20k more expensive than the Escape (list price) and i have ridden in one, ang ganda ng ride.
