According to Smart Motorist, Hydroplaning occurs when water on the roadway accumulates in front of your vehicle's tires faster than the weight of your vehicle can push it out of the way. The water pressure can cause your car to rise up and slide on top of a thin layer of water between your tires and the road. While hydroplaning your vehicle rides on top of the water, like a water skier on a lake. In less than a second, your car can completely lose contact with the road, putting you in immediate danger of sliding out of your lane. This usually happens at higher speeds, over 40 miles per hour. Try to imagine your vehicle traveling at a high rate of speed on a sheet of ice: that image approximates what will happen if you try to brake or steer while hydroplaning.
Pick-up trucks don't get much down force so less Grip, when Hydroplaning occurs it would have terrible results

Mitsubishi’s bestseller today is the Montero Sport. If you think you’re spotting a Montero Sport every so often, your eyes are not on a selective-mode. Mitsubishi Motor Philippines Corp. has sold 4,768 units since it was launched here in September 2008. If you buy a Montero Sport today, you’ll have to wait 60 days to get your vehicle; that’s the waiting line that’s been created by the demand for this stylish SUV.
We learned that from Dante Santos, vice president for vehicle sales, who was with the MMPC group of executives who presented the new Mitsubishi Galant to the motoring media last week. Mr. Santos said 700 units of the Montero Sport are sold every month.
Mitsubishi has hit on an ideal mix of style, performance and price -- in other words, as Mitsubishi likes to put it -- value for money. This diesel-powered, seven seater SUV with the sporty styling that matches its performance is priced at a level that makes it stand out from among the many popular SUVs in the market today. The Montero Sport 4x2 variant (2.5-liter automatic) is priced at P1.330-million. In the same price range is the Ford Everest 4x2 (P1.33-million for the manual, and P1.385- million for the automatic).
Incidentally, at the smaller SUV segment, the very popular Honda CRV is now priced at P1.495 for the high-end 2.4-liter gas, automatic, with real time all-wheel drive. But the CRV 2-liter manual manual is only P1.245-million. Another small SUV, the Ford Escape 4x2 gas, automatic is P1-million, and the 4x4 is P1.2-million.
The Montero Sport 4x4 manual variant is priced at P1.47-million. Other SUVs with similar price tags are the Isuzu Altera 4x2 manual at P1.45-million, and the Toyota Fortuner 4x2 2.5-liter diesel at P1.468-million and the Fortuner 4x2 gas 2.7-liter variant at P1.403-million
The top-of-the-line Montero Sport 3.2-liter automatic 4x4 is priced at P1.68-million.
That compares to the Ford Everest 3.0-liter automatic 4x4 at P1.695-million.
It’s not only pricing that pushed the Montero Sport to take the market. It’s also the style and performance backed by the heritage of the Mitsubishi name and the Pajero image. The Pajero, a brand launched in the late eighties, has gathered a strong reputation for reliability and prestige. Its long history with the Paris-Dakar Rally has carved the Pajero name as a tough vehicle. And because it's been around for so long, the Pajero brand has become a symbol of "I have arrived!" That is the image that still comes with the new Montero Sport.
The sales performance of the Montero Sport, boosted by Mitsubishi’s other SUVs (Strada, Outlander and Pajero), has contributed to the automaker’s 25 percent chunk of the light commercial vehicle category (compared to last year’s 19 percent).
During the presentation of the new Mitsubishi Galant, Mr. Masahiko Ueki, MMPC president and CEO, reported the company’s achievements for the first half of this year:
• Mitsubishi sold a total of 10,654 units for the first half of 2009. That translates to a 27 percent growth, compared to last year’s performance.
• It grew in all segments: 19 percent in passenger cars; 28 percent in light commercial vehicles; and 22 percent in the trucks and bus segment.

Aside from the Manual Tranny Fort, the Fortuner has a better over-all package accross different trims because all specifications are the same except for the engine and/or the transmission.
If you compare the lowest-end automatic Fortuner with the lowest end automatic transmission Montero Sport, you will notice that the Fortuner has a better over-all package. For one, the Fortuner has auto climate control while the Montero Sport has the manual-rotary controls for its aircon. For the Fortuner, the only difference between the top-end and the lowest-end A/T are th engine and transmission, all the rest are the same. So you do not feel short-changed even if you just get the Fortuner 2.7 VVTi. However, for the Monetro Sport, aside from the engine and transmission, there are other differences in the interior specifications, so parang ang daming binawas from the top-end para maging low-end. Admittedly though, the lowest-end MS with auto tranny is lower-priced compared to the lowest-end Fortuner with auto tranny.

ang pinaka malaking binawas kasi sa Fortuner eh yung Horsepower. 102hp vs 143hp ng MS.
pero btw, parang mas maganda ang whistling sound ng diesel ng Fort kesa sa parang kinakaladkad na tunog ng makina ng MS. the MS' engine sounds lethargic compared to the whistling and smooth gliding sound of the Fort's engine be it 2.5 or 3.0.
Megaforce lasted 4.5 years ... with CTek charger ...
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
