May 30th, 2007 06:05 PM #1Hi folks!
Do you guys keep original copies of your OR and CR in your vehicles (glove compartments or wherever)?
I've always kept originals at home and stash only photocopies of them in the glove boxes. Parang mas safe lang kasi kung yung originals nasa filing cabinets lang sa bahay. Does anybody here know what the official rule from LTO is?
I saw a fine associated with this: http://www.lto.gov.ph/fines2.html. It's #13 in the list, but it doesn't explicitly say if they have to be originals. I didn't see anything else in the LTO site.

the copies that you have in your car doesn't have to be the original ones - lalo na ang CR!
pero yes, it's a violation if you don't have a duplicate copy of your vehicle's or/cr with you while driving (since if you get into an accident this will be required in a police report).

No need to bring the originals. Photocopies will do. Everytime I was asked to show my OR/CR, the apprehending officers never asked for the originals.

here's the LTO ruling over that:
13. Failure to carry in the Motor Vehicle the Certificate of Registration (CR) and Official Receipt (OR) (Original or Photocopies)

I keep photocopies of the OR/CR and auto insurance policy on the driver's side door pocket.
Never keep the original documents in the car; in the unfortunate event that you lose your car to thieves, sorry na lang.

My original CR is with the bank. The original OR is with me. I keep 3 photocopies of both in the car.
Don't forget to sign the CR on the space provided. I think there's a fine for unsigned CR - just heard about.
