January 24th, 2018 06:35 PM #1I would like ask for your advice, re the subject above.
I am being offered with an "irresistible" offer? for the 2014 Kia Sportage 2.0. I'll just be paying the monthly amortization of 25k for the remaining 18 months, more or less 460k in total. That's it. No more cash out.
Now, I currently own a CRV 2001 (which I really love). Should we push through with our deal, I'll be selling it to fund the almost half of the value of the Sportage. The CRV despite its age, is very comfortable and cheap to maintain. However, I don't have any experience with Kia or any Korean made autos.
The skeptic in me made some research and find a few things to consider, such as stiffer ride, tensioner issue (probably isolated), "bare" looking interior (subjective) although compared to my CRV, its a leap forward. Plus the expensive parts of Kia if ever something breaks down.
How's the real world ownership of this model? The Sportage Gen 3 thread is not that active, and mostly price inquiry during the previous years.
Financially, I can sustain an every now and then breakdown of wear and tear parts, but would be hard pressed to shell out for major parts, like for ie. EPS, compressor, and other major stuff. Speaking of which, will the unit still be applicable for its 5 year warranty?
Do you think, its worth it to get the Sportage and give it a benefit of the doubt that it would perform at par with its Japanese counterparts?
I know its a new car vs old car, but as we speak, the CRV is headache free and I love it to bits, thus its giving me a dilemma.
Your inputs are highly appreciated.
Thank you.

January 24th, 2018 06:53 PM #4It's Gas. I'm not sure if its the new engine or not. Haven't really test driven it yet.

January 24th, 2018 08:52 PM #8Gas would be a hell of a lot easier to maintain than the diesel. Its more than a decade newer than your current crv so it should last a long time.

You’ve got a point here. I have a 1st gen CRV & it’s not fuel efficient at all. I also have a diesel car which I use as a daily driver. For family use, The CRV is limited to city drives but I can’t take it for out of town trips, too expensive. Better to have a diesel second car for those out of town trips. The maintenance is not that expensive, especially if pms intervals are long.

the kia is a black box of potential surprises. "are you a gambling man?"
takaw tingin lang po 'yan. you'll get over it.
so why is seller getting rid of it?
