The talk about CRDis being more expensive in the long run is a farce
Assume 10 years & 100,000kms and stagnance of gas prices
Accent diesel at 18kms per liter
Yearly gasoline expenditure: P23,333
Cumulative 10 year gasoline expenditure: P233,333
Honda City at 10kms per liter
Yearly gasoline expenditure: P52,000
Cumulative 10 year gasoline expenditure: P520,000
Yearly price difference: P28,667
The city will cost about P30k a year more in gas. Even if one would follow Hyundai's ridiculous 3000kms servicing scheme, the city is still more expensive to run.

Problema kasi sa mga nagsasabi na mas mahal kagad magmaintain ng diesel, walang gumagawa ng cost-benefit analysis.
What's up with people just claiming whatever without numbers to back it up.

Kaya nga ako crdi na lahat rides ko. Walang habol ang gasoline engine pag dating sa fuel economy. Plus that bonus torque, singitan na lang sa traffic lamang na lamang ka.
accent crdi na. Sundin mo lang yung 5000km maintenance schedule and not the 3 months, and after the 20,000 km pms junk the warranty and get your pms done by reputable shops outside the casa. Basta huwag rapide ha.Last edited by yebo; June 23rd, 2014 at 09:55 PM.

If comfort is a major consideration, Honda City is it. Ok choice ang Accent but it's not the best during long driving. From my experience between the two, City is it.

While I agree the CRDI is more economical than the City, it's not that much more economical.
In my testing of the CRDI MT, it was at around 12-14 km/l in city driving, where the City was at 10.
Split the difference... say 13 versus 10. That's P32,308 per year.
Yearly price difference of 19,629.
But that's the manual. The automatic won't be as economical... might even be just 11 km/l versus 10 km/l in the gasoline car... which is just a 13k difference every year. Still good, but the automatic variant of the Accent CRDi costs more, spec for spec, than the City.
In the long run, the fuel prices will help you save money (even with the more expensive service... turbodiesel takes more oil... and eventual injector replacement, at around 100-120k... but that won't happen in just 100,000kms... more like 200,000+++++), but in the short run, you have to spend more upfront for the same features.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Another way to look at the price premium of the Accent over other subcompacts is that it has much more useable performance.
The torque of the Accent diesel is much more fun than the City that takes forever (okay not forever, just until 5000 rpm) to have satisfying pull.

Not just the engine. It's literally a D-Max with Mazda styling, but everything mechanical is Isuzu....
