Thanks for your input! Camry's do have low resale value, will look into them. How are the parts availability though?
Thanks for your input! So far I see Altis and Camrys hover around 300-400k price point. But I am now considering newer second hand used cars like the Mirage, Vios, City and Ciaz. So far only the Ciaz dips to 400k used and low mileage. I'm very tempted to go Suzuki because of the Ciaz's rated fuel economy, elegant design and huge space.
Yes looking into Camrys. Which Civic models are you talking about?
Thank you! How's the maintenance with your 10 year old Altis? Does the underchassis still hold up after years of wear and tear in the metro? How about the engine? Does it still idle smoothly? How often do you change oil?
Performance is not a main priority (as it will be idling through bumper-to bumper traffic) so comfort, reliability at lamig ng aircon ang mainly priorities ko.
I see, thanks for the heads up!

A Civic FD (2006-2011) or Civic FB (2012-2015) is as reliable as an Altis of the same era.
For the Camry alternative, the 8th gen Accord (2008-2012) offers the same space and fuel consumption but it is a better driver’s car. The Camry is better if you have a chauffeur.

September 29th, 2019 01:37 PM #13I'd consider the newer subcompacts if this was going to be the daily driver. But since you said this will only be the coding/weekend car, I say might as well get something more enjoyable.
Between the Accord and Camry of the same vintage, I would go for the one that sold more (Camry). This is because of better availability of model specific trim parts. We have just sold our 2005 Accord 2.4 with 106k mileage for 150k last week. Excellent engine and chassis. Reason for selling? Malfunctioning aircon IC, with no available spare part. Yet engine and suspension parts were very much available.

September 30th, 2019 12:54 PM #14Acquired the Altis last 2014, with 35,000 kms. Now it already logged 105,000 kms, so far these are the only parts i replaced:
-Front and rear shock absorbers (not really worn out, I replaced it lang agad when i found signs of leakage). Front shocks replaced April 2018, Rears replaced June 2019.
-Rack and Pinion bushing (a common issue of this Altis), was replaced by Exalta Banawe last April 2018. They replaced it with a polyurethane bushing.
-Oil change every 5,000 kms/ or 6 months, whichever comes first. I only use Shell Helix HX5 mineral oil (15W-40)
So far very satisfied with it, very smooth and comfortable for its age. Only complaint with the car is the tight rear legroom.
Car is daily driven, and being our only vehicle, it's still being used for out of town family trips

Blue-labeled Motolite Gold are factory-supplied OEM batteries with only 1 year warranty.
Cheaper brands than Motolite but reliable as well
