For washing the car, you need at least the following:
1) Microtex Washmitt
2) Microtex Chamois (non-rubber) or the Elite drying towel.
3) shampoo (microtex is good. hehe.)
For waxing, you need...
1) applicator pads (you can use the micromagic 4 for 88 foam pads or the microtex applicator)
2) microfiber cloths (microtex plush is good for this) for buffing
For starters, you can opt to use the Nanoglos wax + Nanosliq combo
if you want maximum protection, you can look for Collinite 476... it's the (2nd) toughest wax we know of here at the moment... after Collinite fleetwax.
For quick detailing (i.e. bird poo, tree sap), you can get a microfiber cloth and a decent quick detailier (e.g. Mothers or Megs. Optimum no rinse is the best bang for buck, though)
For dusting the car, the Microtex duster is cheaper than the original california duster, but is just as effective. won't scratch the paint.
for other tips, other tsikoteers would have more knowledge about those (e.g. sealants and correction)
disclaimer: we're not promoters of Microtex products here, but they really are bang-for-buck, that's why alot of detailers use them

December 3rd, 2010 10:07 PM #998just applied collinite 476 on my car (hood and trunk only). pero nanotice ko po na same lang yung shine nya sa ginagamit ko na tw cleaner wax..meron ba kong pwedeng ibang iapply muna before or after 476 para mas kumintab pa lalo?after application pala e binasa ko ng water.grabe dumudulas lang yung tubig..hehe..kaya thanks sa mga nagrecommend sakin ng 476..
if nagcar wash ba ko using shampoo e mawawala na yung effect nung 476?para di ako magcar wash using shampoo para naman di masyang pag apply ko..
one more thing..dami ko nababasa dito na mga steps like 1. wash first. 2. sealant. 3. wax. pero anu-ano po ba mga sealant (brand)? yung locally made lang sana like mga turtle or microtex...gusto ko kasi lagyan ng sealant kaya lang no idea kung anong klase yun..

detergent proof ang 476 bro. pero pinaka-safe na siguro ang microtex shampoo. gamit ka nalang QD after para may pampaslick and shine. btw, hindi shine ang forte ng 476, more on durability siya.
and yup, like what chikselog said, carlack, klasse, zaino ang mga brand ng sealants. mostly, order basis ang mga yan. carlack twins can be bought in Big Berts worth 2600php. klasse and zaino can be bought online or kay sir Ed I think.
Dead on arrival...
