December 9th, 2012 01:29 AM #3i do not think i would like to re-use that damaged thermostat anymore, even if i cleaned it.
as to flush out rust, i think it's just a matter of opening the drain plug at the base of the radiator and wait for all the water to drain out. some say it would be better while the engine is still hot.. daw.. then, you close the drain hole and pour in your choice of coolant.

Yes, valve sya, it opens up when it reaches the operating temperature ng auto,
Kapag wala yan, you will burn more gas kasi mas nageeffort ang engine maabot yung operating temp.
Nandyan yan for a reason,
Research ka lang sir, you know better.

From carburator and to the distibutor vacuum advancer. According sa manual ay dapat open ang thermal valve at mag close when 80° C was reached. To be able to replace the white thermal valve. I need also to remove thermostat.

Already had the radiator overhauled. Tapos nilagyan na ng coolant mixed with water coming from a softener water system. Pero after a while, naging kalawang color ulit ang tubig. Di kaya ang kalawang nanggagaling sa makina kung saan umiikot ang tubig to/from the radiator?
On my recent trip to Bicol, I saw a lot of BYDs plying the roads.
