    ^That is because once a concrete road breaks or cracks, the whole slab must be replaced even though some parts are still ok. Patching it with asphalt is a cost effective alternative, but, once it rains or gets flooded, it gets detroyed overtime. Higher mainantance but it's still cheaper.

    On the other hand, concrete roads saves you 15% on fuel cost since it's harder than asphalt and it lasts for 40 years.

    For Thai food, there are Filipinos who don't like the aroma of herbs, sourness and spicyness of Thai food, but I love it. Durian season is nearing, so, most probably I'll be in Bangkok in August. They have a Durian buffet at the hotel I'm staying.

    but yes i'm tired of eating cantonese-type HK food. i'd really rather be eating indian food

    iba pa rin ang asian cuisine. like if you go around US all the food tastes bland

    I have the same theory as badkuk. Repaving = recurring kickbacks with minimal scrutiny if any. They can't allocate district funds to repair another district's damaged roads so they just repave even the good ones in their area.

    Di na sana kelangan kung smooth yung pagkapave ng contractor. Meron naman pang smooth out ng concrete. Vibrator yata tawag dun? When Hanjin paved some roads here they were buttery smooth despite not having an asphalt topper.

    Every time I pass by a stinky tofu stall at Raohe, I hold my breath. Hahaha. "Did somebody fart?" But, I'm adventurous and I ate one plate for the heck of it. Glad I'm still alive. LOL!

    maybe it's because we're much of us here are filipinos, and live in a place where chinese foods abound.
    to other tourists whose only exposure to chinese foods is the kato show, these are probably "exotic foods that must be tasted before one dies".

    For exotic food, I've already tasted snake soup, fugu, fried frog's legs, horse meat, and deer meat.

    But, I will never ever eat snail (suso) again. That stuff is nasty! It smells like sewer. I tried it but the smell is still in my mind. lol

    This one is a lot nastier. It's the garden snail they are eating. Just look at the poo. Aw hell naw!



    I've read an article where this guy ate a snail on a dare. He became paralyzed because the snail was infected with rat lungworm parasite.

    Nagbook ako ng asean pass sa airasia byahe sa september. Nagbook na din ng mga tutuluyan airbnb sa bkk at hanoi, pagdating ko sa pagboobook ng singapore, 3 nights ako don. Walanjo sobrang mahal! Haha! Di ako makapagdesisyon kung papatulan ko ba yung mas malayo sa center (3-5K), yung nasa center pero sobrang liit (5-7k), o kakasa na ako sa mahal na 5-star (10-14k) since minsan lang at "first world" experience kumbaga (di masyado ok 5-star experience dito sa atin!). Bago ako nagtingin ng hotel sinulat ko muna lahat ng restaurant na gusto kong puntahan. Luho ko ang pagkain at pag-inom sa mga restaurant. Pero kung medyo nakainom baka hotel ang pinakaok na choice? Iniisip ko din na baka magbus na lang ako pa-malaysia tapos 1 night na lang sa singapore. Mas mahal pa kesa berlin/paris all things considered! Gulat akoo! Haha! Ano tips niyo?

    SG is such a small place. just book anywhere near an MRT station and you'll be fine

    Madaming types of Chinese food...

    Yung sa Pinas is malapit sa HK/Taiwan food kaya dip is always soy sauce

    Singapore food is more on Chili Sauce since malakas influence ng Malaysia

    Even if you go to food courts in Singapore...

    May Mala Hot Pot - Sichuan cuisine
    Beef Brisket noodle - closer to the one we have sa Pinas
    Hokkien mee - Malaysian/Singapore food pero closer to Fujian style
    Char kway teow - Malaysian/Singapore food

    So it will be unfair to compare "Chinese food" locally and in SG...

    I observed various roads here...

    Confirm that there's Concrete sa ilalim then Aspahlt sa ibabaw (except for bus stops)

    BUT, even if bago yung asphalt sa lane 1 and luma yung sa lane 2, di mo mararamdaman yung change... kulay lang nagkaiba

    or, add taxi fare x2 per day to the daily hotel bill, when choosing. i have tried the small hotels. "never again", if i can help it. it just ain't fun.
    my better meals were from the "holes in the wall", e.g., the palengkes, the office fastfoods. definitely not the expensive places.

    Singapore or Singapura was part of Malaysia before. They have the same culture, food, and accent.

    For dips, it depends on the dish. Some soy sauce and chili sauce are sweet. Sauces are just optional like sprinkling some pepper powder on your soup. I don't like dipping, except for Chicken Rice.

    For local Chinese food, I don't count Chow King and the likes as authentic Chinese food, lol. It's already blended with local pinoy taste. We have imported Chinese Chefs for our Chinese restaurants. The Chef at Buffet 101 Makati is Cantonese as I heard him talk.

    In general, for me, all Chinese food are the same. They have the same technique and preparation. It's only those "special" dishes that makes it unique to that region, like Kuay Teow and Chicken rice for Singapore. Basically, it's same Peking Duck, the same suckling pig, the same abalone dishes, the same Yang Chow rice, the same sweet and sour pork, the same steam buns, the same dim sum, the same chicken feet, the same fish ball, and etc. With some unique variations like we have unique variations of adobo here. The buns in Taiwan are one of best I've tasted. Singapore has it's own unique bun like Kachang Pao (red bean) which I love.

    But, Hanoi and Siem Reap are a whole lot of exotic food adventure. But, for Seoul, when you read "spicy" on the menu, they mean it. They're not kidding, LMAO! I made a huge mistake of my life when I ordered spicy seafood noodle at Han's Deli Myeongdong. That's the hottest and most spiciest food x 1 million atomic bombs I've tasted, lol. I was sweating profusely, my whole face was red, and my nose was leaking mucus. Hahahaha!

    +1. Their MRT is top notch. Pair it with their app and you're good to go.The only downside is that you don't get to see the city that much.


    btw, i learned recently that river otters do swim around Marina Bay in the early mornings.
