my sentiments exactly. the exam was made for both pro and non-pro licenses. some of the answers are pretty obvious and will bring you stitches for the ridiculous transparencies. but there were questions that were clearly irrelevant. i would estimate 40% retake the exam. you know what protesting to deaf ears sounds like...

Most drivers, especially those using new and faster vehicles normally drive at least 110 kph on the expressway. Try to observe this fact the next time you drive along the Nlex Accidents due to over speeding rose from only 162 cases in 2002 to an alarming 2,402 cases in 2003 according to the Traffic Safety Education Department of the LTO. And it is common among Filipino drivers to step on their gas pedals harder when traveling along smooth highways like the rehabilitated Nlex. Try driving at the maximum 100 kph speed limit along the expressway from Dau to the City of San Fernando. Chances are at least 30 other vehicles would either overtake you if you're on the right (slow) lane or dangerously tailgate you if you're on the left (fast) lane."

    Mga gurus,

    Observation ko lang po.

It appears that the speed detecting devices on the NLEX are useless in doing their job after sunset. If I remember it correctly, na feature yan sa PDI motoring section about 2 or 3 years ago. Almost all of the apprehensions shared (based on my backreading) occurred during the daytime. Ang nagiging problema naman sa gabi especially after 9pm ay yung volume ng container vans and long vehicles that come into the NLEX.

I agree with the previous posts about apprehending the overspeeders. But what about those who violate the rule on the leftmost lane by DRIVING DANGEROUSLY SLOW? Why are they not apprehended?

I drive on the NLEX at least 3 times a year and I can say that my observations are consistent dahil puro gabi ang biyahe ko (i'm on the NLEX between 9-11 pm). Admittedly, nag-ooverspeed din ako minsan (140 km/h max) pero nag iisip din ako kasi kasama ko pamilya ko. Biyahe ulit kami tonight kaya nag post ako, hoping to get solicit your experiences and opinions

PEACE TO ALL AND HAPPY WEEKEND

Hmph. When I travel home at night in the Crosswind on the SLEX, I sometimes set my idler (cheap cruise control... astig!) to keep the Crosswind at a steady 60 km/h (lower speed limit), and I still overtake 80% of the other vehicles with me... sometimes going over twice as fast as they are.

Almost hit a truck last night when a f*&%^ mitsu merged left in front of us at 20 km/h.

    Ang pagbalik ng comeback...

Does this mean 80% are "underspeeding" and in fact, violating a regulation or some law and should, likewise, be apprehended? these vehicles also pose as hazards as much as those that are overspeeding.

oh well...somehow i still wish na itaas yung speed limit to 120. nahuli nako twice sa NLE. the first time, it was 137kmh daw. true enough because most of the time i would go till 140. that was sa southernmost tollgate. early morning yun. then i bought an ec tag in the hopes of avoiding falling in line and breezing through the toll gates. however, nahuli ulit ako sa exit ko going home which is angeles exit. sobrang rare mag ka enforcer dun and as usual no contest pa din ako. makakalusot na sana ako kasi nga ectag kaso nahuli pa din. first violation was 500php plus some other fees and exam. then yung 2nd was 750php plus other fees. to top it was a 1 month suspension of my license. ngayon sobra takot ko na because if i get caught the third time, ill have my license revoked...and that will suck big time...kaya ingat na lang talaga...lets follow rules na lang. this is one way of disciplining us filipino motorists. and kahit anong lagay hindi tinatanggap sa nlex kasi matataas daw sweldo nila. and they have this thinking na baka parang observer lang yung ng violate and chncheck if they would accept bribes and all. also, sabi before nung humuli sakin 120kmh pinapalampas pa nila pero may nakausap ako sa LTo east av na bus driver hindi daw totoo kasi may kasamahan siya na nahuli 109 and 106 lang. ingat na lang mga tsikoteers.

pwede daw yun escape route if sure kayo na mahuhuli layo...but when i was caught i had no idea because i didnt notice any vehicle on the bridges...yung 2nd huli ko going home to pampanga somehow i knew because there was this vehicle parked in between the southbound and northbound lane which looked like it was comfortably parked there. and theres no escape dun kasi there were enforcers on both angeles and dau tollgates.

Bakit kasi nagi-exceed ang ibang tao sa speed limit? maybe a 110 on 100kph speed limit is fine. Pero kung 30 kph more is something else.

    Sabagay ako din naman! hehehehe!!!

    NLEX

    Qouting WikiPedia:

"80 km/h near Metro Manila, 100 km/h in rural areas, but 120 km/h is permitted. Speed limits are strictly enforced via CCTV cameras, and speeders are usually identified as soon as they hit the tollbooth. However, this hasn't stopped the road from being a popular spot for people to test high end sports cars. The highest recorded speed on the NLEx is 320 km/h by a modified Nissan Skyline GT-R[1]."

haha..dont look down naman on bus drivers. even if they are rude most of the time...may ok din naman especially those driving provincial buses. and when you get a ticket sa nle they write "overspeeding" and the speed recorded on the ticket so malamang totoo naman. i got two tickets na e. and lagi nakalagay dun ung speed. hehe..320? wow...was he caught or was it an allowed "test drive" along nle? hehe

    docchris,

I beg to diagree about provincial bus drivers. I live in Pangasinan and I travel to Tarlac City weekly, and along the NLEX once or twice a month. I've lost track of the number of times I've been bullied (e.g. mag-o-overtake sila kahit na super-lapit na yung kasalubong nila, dinadaan sa laki), nearly sideswiped, or overtaken by those provincial buses along the highway even though I already travel at the top legal speed (100 kph on NLEX and 80 kph on unpopulated stretches of the provincial highways).

I keep my distance from them as much as possible (especially buses of Victory, Partas, Dagupan Bus and Dominion), so please forgive my disdain for their driving habits. Of course, your mileage may vary

well yeah, im just from angeles city. but i do travel nle to mla 2 to 4 x a week back and forth. and most of the time they stay in their rightful lanes in the nle...and they are courteous naman...pero the buses in manila, the ones that lurk in edsa are really insane and ive seen how they can casue accidents right beforemy eyes. but nonetheless, i cannot agree with you regarding their credibility with what they said. now, enough with the defending of their credibilty...point is, stick to the limit because even if such a leeway exists from 100 to 120 kmh in the speed limit, be very careful because youll never know if theyll strictly comply with the posted 100 kmh.

thanks mikey...learned that the hard way...was given a ticket along nle twice for overspeeding...and my license was suspended for the second time aside from the 800 pesos i had to shell out for it...oh well...thats why i have no plans of overspeeding coz the third time has a 1000 fine plus license revocation...

AFAIK they don't apprehend you if you're running 110-120kph...medyo debatable kasi ang radar reading and speedometer reading ng sasakyan so prone for dispute yan. They actually explained to me that their radar/camera read-out and kuha should show more than 120kph before apprehending the violator.

If you contest the huli, they have the picture as proof.

IMO more than 101kph ang takbo nya (pinapasakay ka lang siguro ng kaibigan mo).

Ang alam ko rin hindi sila nang hihingi ng lagay (of course iba kung ikaw ang magbibigay grasya na ba't hindi mo pa tatangapin) kasi naka-radyo ang lahat ng huli nila (there are about 2 radar cops tha know it and there are about 2-4 arresting cops on the toll exit that would also know about it)... so more than 1 person ang gigimik at nakakaalam ng MO ng pangongotong - delikado yun para sa kanila.

I know that kasi nung nahuli ako about 3 years back sinubukan ko rin yan (maglagay), and they explained "hindi po ubra palagpasin dahil nakapicture at nakaradyo na po ang huli niyo"...
