What is the correct way of holding the key while turning on the ignition switch? dapat ba nakaharap ang thumb sa toyota logo? or doon sa may unlock/lock? TIA.
Just a question regarding fuel filter, it is indicated in the manual that when the fuel gauge status flashes it means water has been accumulated in the fuel filter and it needed to be bleed. If it stays on (fuel gauge status indicator), then have it service to casa. Where is the sensor located for fuel filter? pag lumabas ito, does it mean may nakapasok na madumi or water sa engine? or warning lamang po ito? TIA.
Salamat brader. At least ma caution muna tayo kung the fuel filter needs to be drain or replaced kung lumabas ang sign na un. Ung mga D4-D issues brader, biglaan ba un? or may lumabas na flashing/steady sign sa fuel filter muna? or no sign at all?
Having second thoughts of buying the 2.7 vvti because of fuel consumption. Medyo magulo na ang isip ko. I was thinking of the innova already then na-realize ko maybe we can stretch the budget some more and get the 2.5 d4d fortuner. Went back to the thread and the archived thread, comparisons and review of the 2.5 d4d fort. Is it worth it? i am confused when they say it is underpowered. talaga bang hirap yung makina when it is full with 7pax? mabagal ba talaga sya na tipong kapag long drive e iiwanan ka ng lahat ng sasakyan dahil 102 hp lang sya? i will be using it for like 80% city and 20% highway on weekdays with 2 to 4 pax and 70% highway and 30% city on weekends with 4 adults and 2 kids. The 3.0 is really way over budget. please help and enlighten me. thanks!

If you can buy 2.7vvti, still you can afford the fuel for it. In comparison to 2.5, fuel will not be a great margin unless you will travel more than 20K a year.
Almost 15k Php per 10K Km increased in distance travel!
If may manual tranny na variant ang 2.5 d4d, yun ang kunin mo, i think it will compensate for the supposed "underpowered performance" of the 2.5 fort. You wont be speeding up past 120 kph naman sa mga highways lalo na sa NLEX and sctex dahil ang dami patrol, increasing your chance of apprehension. sa mga provincial roads naman you wont be speeding up past 100 kph else increasing the chance of meeting an accident kase ang daming nagkalat na trike and mga bata sa tabi tabi.
By the way I have a 2.5 Hilux G, I think weight is more or less similar naman differing by <100 kg lang. Fuel consumption sa city is around 11 km/L, that's bumper to bumper traffic na from taft avenue to up diliman. Highway mileage is around 12.6 to 14 km/L. I even managed to achieve a bit less than 1/4 consumption ng fuel for about 300 km coverage (that's I think around 13 to 15 km/L), though mag isa ko yun and may konting load lang sa loob ng cab, but 26 km of that consisted of climbing through rough roads and very steep inclines.
Believe me, when you are on the highway naman na, you will see more powerful vehicles taking it easy on the highway. hehe.
Oh and sa overtaking pala, ok naman performance niya, diskarte na lang siguro (kaya manual ang kunin mo, so you can harness the torque band to your advantage). Patience lang minsan ang kelangan.
Sa load question naman, ok naman siya, walang pinagbago sa pulling and overtaking characteristics niya (5 pax sa loob with bags, tapos 2 pax equivalent load sa likod).
Hope this helps bro.

*Noel Salisipan: Thank you for the reply. I will probably average 12k to 15k km a year.
*agentrambo007: The info you gave is very helpful. Thank you for taking the time. I agree with you. My average speed naman in the highway is 100 to 120 lang. I am usually with my kids so medyo maingat and most of the time home to school and office so traffic. I don't race pero sometimes you want the power lalo na pag mag overtake. Does that mean na kapag A/T na 2.5 D4D ang kinuha ko medyo hirap sya sa overtaking? how about comparing it to a city or a vios? Kasi yung underpowered na sinasabi ang pumapasok sa isip ko e mas malakas pa yung mga sub-compact hehe apologies for the ignorance.
With the expeculation of a sub-million price for a Monty, will Toyota compete on having a J variant Fort?
brad imposible yan, haha. E nga wala eh. anu na kaya ichura pa nung J na fort. naka hubcap tapos no power windows ang power locks? joke. :D
I have my fort 2.5 d4d G M/T variant since 2010, and I always used it in a long drive, travelling from Manila to Nueva Ecija every weekend via NLEX and SCTEX, I never feel that she is under power, as long as you run faster her engine becoming smooth, i've already tried to run at 160 kph, tollgate to tollgate in SCTEX from Dau to Tarlac and she never change, Subic to Tarlac at constant 120 kph, her consumption falls to 11,8 km/l, depending on your acceleration, i've done also 13.5 km/l mabagal nga lang ang takbo, in overall, you will be satified too, yung porma n'ya is also different, yung steering nya, walang galaw kahit ihataw mo ng todo ang speed nya, and also, mas maganda syang tumakbo once she is loaded, swabe ang galaw.
*ocean explorer: Thank you sir for sharing your experience. Me and my wife decided to get the 2.5 D4D A/T. Problem lang haba ng pila and wala daw stock. Ang nakakainis pa, mas priority nila inhouse financing. Sa jan or feb 2012 pa daw mag normalize supply dahil sa baha sa thailand. tingin ko nga mas ok sa amin yung diesel. most of the time within metro and occasional long trips lang. kaso sa tagal ng pila, napapaisip tuloy ako kung mag gas na hehe. di na makaantay.
Mas ok ang diesel esp. for a long drive kasi habang umiinit ang makina tumitining ang takbo nya, kahit sa city driving walang problema, I used v-power diesel always kaya wala syang usok and i always keep it on sched. for pms... para sigurado tayong safe itakbo ng malayo ang sasakyan natin...
When i took my unit, diretso ako sa casa, kaya saglit lang... one week, labas ang unit ko... kahit anong kulay basta't available, kinuha ko... after that... yung regihistro naman... so, advice ko lang if you got your unit, kung pwedeng paki-usapan yung nag-a-assist sa inyo na sa malapit na sa lugar nyo i-rehistro ang sasakyan nyo, its better. Sa akin kasi sa malayo pa naka-rehistro so, ang layo pa ng pinuntahan ko to cleared up the CR, buti yung chattel mortgage e! malapit lang... that's all for a moment, kung may maalala ako, i-share ko uli.
