Grossly, it'd be Toyota.
I hope this would be a wake up call to the entire industry to stop producing substandard crap.![]()

"The driver of the Camry tried to shift the car from Park to Drive before pulling out but the Shifter got stuck on Reverse so he puts his foot of the brake then the car just accelerated backwards by itself on top of the patrol car..... He wasn't stepping on the gas and he was trying to stop and turn off the car the whole time....(try listening at the end when the engine was revving all by itself). "
OMG! there are lots of these late model camrys here in the philippines should they be worried

it's safe pa naman to buy a brand-new VIOS or YARIS no? what do you think? these models are not included in the recalls naman diba?
Now I don't know what's their beef about the corolla power steering. My altis' steering works brilliantly. ultra light kapag parking at low speed, tapos bumibigat habang bumibilis. I mean, those who are complaining probably had the chance to test drive the car bago sila bumili di ba? e kung hindi nila pala kasundo yung steering ng corolla, e hindi na dapat nila binili in the first place. Eh ganun talaga ang steering ng corolla e. sheeeesh
I still believe that politically motivated ang lahat ng ito. the US government owns 40% of GM and a significant portion of chrysler after the auto bailout. now their government would not want to see their investments go south, would they? not with their slighted egos (when toyota overtook GM as the largest auto maker). kaya they're doing everything to bring toyota down. isabay mo pa ang predatory instinct ng mga amerikano.![]()
I kind of agree with you.
As for the gas pedal issue, marami talagang complaint diyan. Totoo yung issues na iyon, na mas lalong lumala because of different factors. I also believe that it's politically motivated in a subtle way, due to the facts you mentioned. But the damage has been done and the company feels it, although may kasabihan na "what doesn't kill them will make them stronger", and I believe that will be the case.
The accelerator problem is less a political thing than Toyota US executives refusing to acknowledge the issue (and possibly covering it up for two or three years) until the NHTSA told them to stop selling cars.
The steering thing smacks of ambulance chasing, but given that Americans regularly drive at speeds of 120-140 km/h on the highway, there actually might be something there. The Corolla is not stable at those speeds. The steering does firm up, but it's still too light in some cases (the test units we've gotten have had surprisingly different degrees of power assist at highway speed). More experienced drivers (like I've noted in my review) will find it merely annoying, casual drivers might find that driving behavior that is merely improper in other cars (driving with one hand, not paying attention) might be dangerous in the Corolla.
Yeah... they should've known... but many people don't test drive before they buy, and they certainly don't test drive at highway speeds. They just take a ride around the block and sign the papers afterwards.
Ang pagbalik ng comeback...
