Sana nga ilabas na ito dito sa Pinas.

according to another thread, Suzuki just released a "bare" version of APV. P560K.

Sa tingin ko eh in anticipation of the arrival of Avanza yung move ng Suzuki. They would want to be able to sell as many units of APV as possible before Toyota kills APV with the Avanza

    Paging TMP!

I don't think the Avanza will kill the APV, for starters, the smaller Avanza is more of a tall 5+2 seater compact wagon, while the APV is more of a van. Sort of like comparing a Zafira to a Space Gear.

    Avanza 1.3

    APV 1.6

I think people who are looking for more space would go for the APV since its a 7-8 seater van with full-width 3rd row bench seat.

The APV is much bigger than the Avanza at parang minivan talaga ang APV while the Avanza is more like a mini-Innova but narrower.Kung gusto mo ng comfort eh mag APV ka(mabenta din yan sa Indonesia these days....)

yup, i agree that people looking for more space would go the APV way. but i think most people who would buy APV would do so because they think it gives them value for their money. IF (and that's a big IF) TMP prices AVANZA anywhere near the price of APV, I am sure that the prospective APV buyers would have a viable option in AVANZA. (esp. since most Filipinos are still biased against non-Toyota/Honda vehicles )

Anyway, sana 4Q na para malaman nating kung ilalabas na talaga ang Avanza.

'eto nga pala lumabas sa manila times last february:

Toyota sees auto sales slowing down this year
    By Elaine Ruzul S. Ramos

Toyota Motor Philippines Corp. expects sales growth to slow down this year on lack of consumer confidence in the market brought about by the political noise, higher value added tax (VAT) and the continued influx of used car imports.

TMPC marketing manager and first vice president Daniel Isla said this year’s full-year sales is projected to inch up 5 percent from a 30 percent year-on-year growth in 2005.

He said Toyota sales this year are likely to hit 38,000 units from 35,000 units in 2005.

Isla said consumers were likely to hold off purchases of big-ticket items like vehicles given the unstable political situation.

Perceptions that the prices of vehicles will also go up with the increase in the VAT from 10 percent to 12 percent are also seen weighing down sales even as industry simulations showed the impact of the higher sales tax on the prices of vehicles would be minimal at 2 percent.

The escalating cost of fuel and the entry of cheaper second-hand imported vehicles will also keep auto buyers at bay.

The Japanese car maker is the biggest in the local industry, holding on to the top spot in terms of unit sales for several years now.

Sustained marketing and promotional gimmicks have helped prop up the sales of new cars in the country over the past few months.

Isla said the growth in this year’s sales would be driven by its lineup.

Innova, one of the car maker’s models under the international innovative multipurpose vehicle (IMV) line, will continue to be the driving force behind Toyota’s sales growth this year.

He said Innova has been averaging sales of 1,000 units a month.

Vios, the company’s sub-compact passenger car, is averaging 800 units while Altis is selling 350 units a month.

Fortuner, another model in the IMV line, is selling 500 units while 70 units of the luxury passenger car Camry are being sold each month.

Isla also said the company would launch the Avanza 1.3-liter minivan in the last quarter of 2006 for the taxi and fleet accounts and first-time buyers.

Toyota Avanza comes with high-power, high-performance and highly fuel-efficient engine and a suspension system that offers a comfortable ride and stable handling. It can accommodate five to seven passengers.

The Avanza, which will be imported from Thailand as completely built unit, will have three varieties, one with manual transmission and the rest in automatic mode.

The Chamber of Automotive Manufacturers and Assemblers of the Philippines Inc. earlier projected full-year sales to grow by 5 percent this year.

If its ok with would be owners to be constantly flagged down by people especially within the vicinity of malls, then by all means get an Avanza hehehe. As for the APV, it seems like it has more exclusivity and class. It may be affordable but appealing to the AB and upper C class as a "fun car" or a "toy car" just like the suzuki swift/jimny and the peugeot 206cc .

I know, one has to be practical nowadays in choosing a vehicle, which I very much agree. But lets face it, our highly materialistic society somehow defines us with what vehicle we drive and for these reasons, I will choose an APV than an avanza.

Btw, I would advice for those who want to get an avanza not to get the following colors unless you don't mind being mistaken for one of them:

white - Most likely color for taxi and police fleet
    blue - MMDA fleet
yellow - barangay service vehicle and PLDT service fleet
    orange - meralco service fleet
other colors - FX plying most major metro manila streets

avanza in person is more beautiful you'll be surprised. i've seen and ridden in one while in malaysia. me dating sya. parang poor man's rav 4. . malayo sya sa daihatsu van or suzuki super carry.... no offense though to daihatsu or suzuki owners... enough depth yung sa paanan ng 3rd row seats adequate for average pinoy adult, daig pa nya yung ibang AUV at SUV na halos naka-squat ka sa 3rd row seats.

If we go by your reasoning APV is a suzuki nothing more than a glorified zuki tricycle, you'll get flagged down as well
